I was inspired by the similar thread in the Main Forum to attempt at creating one for LI. Seeing as there are many characters in LI, and because of its "Shattered Realm" certainly all of them are interesting. I thought a thread like this would give us a place to discuss our favorites, and any fun goals to attempt. Of course, many characters have the "Blood of..." trait which contain some goals. Those should be posted here as well. I doubt every player, especially any new ones will go through every single character and read the history of their ancestors. (Well, I did)

This idea just came to me, so I have yet to compile my own list. I would like to know if there is any support for this thread before I put too much work into it. I'm going to start compiling the list of characters with blood traits, since that will take the least amount of work. Of course, everyone is welcome to join in. In fact, I won't be able to do this without suggestions. And with the new influx of characters from the expansion, and the need for a decent understanding of Shaytana's Timeline (Which I have read through), I would really appreciate any support from the Dev Team. If this does take off and people find it interesting, I won't mind organizing and updating the list.

I hope you all will enjoy the opportunity to share your favorite playthroughs, and that players new and a old can benefit from an organized list of the many, many new game possibilities in Lux Invicta! I know I would!

PLEASE: TL;DR Go ahead and post your favorite characters and playthroughs! Listing fun goals to achieve is more important than a dull list of the many characters. I will include each and every response in this thread!

Iberia

Rex Tiberius VI of Valentia - (Blood of Severus) "Be harmonious, make sure to enrich the soldiers, and scorn all other men." The last words of your great ancestor Lucius Septimius Severus Augustis. Proclaimed by his legions as Emperor of Hispania, he attempted to crown himself sole Emperor of Rome. After losing the War of the Three Emperors, he was expelled to Iberia and acknowledged as Emperor of Hispania. Over the years, your family has slowly lost everything except the Exarch of Valentia. Blessed with the military might brought by devotion to Mithra, can you reclaim Hispania back under your rightful rule? Then go as far as Rome to pay the Senate back for denying your ancestor the sole crown of the Empire?

Caliph Abdul-Rahman VI Umayyad - (Blood of Muawiyah ibn Abi Sufyan) Once the Umayyads ruled as far East as Persia, until the Great Fragmentation of Islam. After being defeated by the Abbasids your ancestor began the Great Umayyad Adventure West, successfully establishing the Caliphate of Cordoba. Now you are a Caliph with only a single duchy. Can you reclaim Al-Andalus, conquer North Africa and bring the Light of 'Ilm Islam to your rivals in your ancestral homelands? Or perhaps take Hispania and spread further north into Western Europe?

Focus on building up your economy until you are able to take advantage of a situation and grab a county. Try uniting the Celtic counties near you, then slowly retake the whole Island. You can form the Celtic Impire if you have the Kingdom of Alba and Eire together. Then go on to Reform your faith.

In Shaytana's timeline, the Argeads of Cyprus have long-since been relegated to a source of prestigious, marriageable daughters without any chance of expansion. They're not bothered, it can be assumed, because no one in the region wants to uproot the true descendants of Alexander, but they are also not expected to expand. As such, you start the game without a single, useful cassus belli. And you're a pagan, meaning your respect/authority is based on your king waging wars. All you've got are Emancipation Wars (if you don't legalize slavery, and why would you, you evil bastard?). Eventually, you'll start taking the authority hit for being at peace too long. After all, you're an Argead and you aren't conquering? Shameful. Start marrying off any daughters you have (roleplay, yay), and trying to fabricate claims on the southern coast of Turkey (or Syria, Greece, or Egypt, but Turkey's closest). Once you make a beachhead there (and have smartly made a marriage alliance with one of the regional powers, like the Seleukids of Antioch), start expanding and killing off all other Alexandros-descendant lines, like the Iskanderids of Egypt, Argeadai of Macedon, and Julio-Argeadai of Phillipolis.

- the Seleukids : well here the goals are quite known and given by the bloodline. Reform Arche Seleukeia and then Arche Makedonia.
-The Ptolemaoi : here I'm talking from the Kyrenean ones but I have not tried the new dynasties from Furor Africanus but they got the same goal with an Ancient Egyptian touch. Reconquer Egypt and then crush the other Diadokhoi
-the Vandals of Carthage : you are a German tribe installed in Africa, Arians and ypu begin with a Leper king ! Who knows best ?
The goals are to form the Carthaginian Empire and fullfill the last sentence of Genseric "Roma Delenda Est"
-The Artorians : Arturus Pendragon anyone ?
-The Merovingians : the heirs of Clovis with a religion influenced by Da Vinci Code
-Bactria : with the expension you are in the middle of the region. You can expand in India,Serindia or even Eranshar with the goal of recreating Arche Makedonia !

Carthage, Kingdom of
Huneric: Huneric is the Vandal Arian king of Carthage. Other people will put up rulers who have longer family trees or strategic positions on the map, but Huneric has them all beat for one very important reason.

He has predetermined traits. And those traits are kinslaying leper poet.

Thanks. My main fear of making a list like this is organizing characters by religion. I may not be the best guy for the job, but if there is enough interest I will try my best. If anything, making it would be useful for myself. It would cut back on the hours I spend just staring at the character selection screen. I know we've all been there.

The King of Gotland because he's on an island (relatively safe from attack) and norse_war gives him lots of troops and major martial advantages.

Played as Gotland, too. Way too easy. I could raid all of the Baltic states (fun) so easily, make crap-tons of money, and sport massive armies (despite being a tiny island) that wiped the floor with the Baltics.

I say the true Argeads of Cyprus.

Finally! :D

I think they should be organized by region rather than religion. Much like Shaytana's original posts where he had a screenshot of the local area and a short description for each character. It might make this not only easy to read but interesting to look at as well. We've got codex upon codex of things for religion, I think this one can be done a bit more traditionally. But it's your thread, so it's up to you :)

Thanks FG! I've definitely got enough time on my hands and interest in LI to take care of this. I'm no modder, and I can't donate money to my favorite mods. So it will be nice for me to be able to give something back to the community. My first time selecting a starting point in LI was daunting, to say the least. I think a thread like this will be quite useful. I appreciate, welcome, and NEED any support you guys can give. I never saw any of Shay's original posts, but I think I understand what you mean. I don't know how much room that would take up in a thread. I'm just going to start with a basic list, acquire any suggestions in this thread, and focus on making it "pretty" once there is a good amount of content.

Listing the characters in LI is one thing, and it would be quite useful on its own. However, I'm in need of the why. Please share any AARs, or just anecdotes from your games. I've only been playing LI for the better part of the year, so I need to know the experiences of others to really make this an interesting read.

Karzan's post is exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you very much! Very nice formatting, just like in the Original Thread. I've also tried that start, and managed claims on Rhodos and Crete. Didn't work out so well when those large armies came knocking...

We have a thread with LI AARs. The longest is mine and linked in my signature.

It's definitely been a while since I played a game, and everything's so different since then anything I could say is hardly relevant any longer. Problem is, every time I try to play a game, it's still too broken for my fixated attention

Aha I know that. If I ever try to play, I see 1001 things I want to change after 5 minutes and go back to modding...
