Dunno really, but if you've got ample internal memory you could be lucky (say 64mb+ with win 95/98).
No guarantees though.
 
I seem to recall that someone said they played the game on a p166, but as Oranje said you should have at least 64MB of memory then, and immediately turn of music as well as be aware there might be a bit of lagging when half the world is at war f. inst. or other instances where lots of things are going on...

I'd better wait until I can try a demo, or buy the game in a shop that allows returns.

Re upgrading... I think upgrading to a P2+ would require a new mother board. It's not worth it as I don't need it for any other programs. I mostly play old turn-based games, and board games by email using Aide de Camp.

You can get a 900 MHz motherboard and chip for about $300 USD
