I was very elated to find out a few months ago (in march) that I could run CKII having downloaded the demo and it worked and subsequently I bought CKII in an amazon sale, and this is surprising because the official system requirements for CKII include a Nvidia GeForce 8800 graphics card, and all I have is a very old GeForce 6100 nForce 405.

Since EU4 will be running on the 2.5 version of the Clausewitz engine, will there be a significant raising of the system requirements?

Oh great.Ck2 rus fast but tends to overheat and crash the game rarely, but i get used to it and save alot :p

For those of us without CK2, what are the requirements? Or at least, where can we find them?

I'm expecting to be unable to, given that it took several patches to get DW to run on my machine.

I doubt we'll see that particular issue again (unintended SSE3 CPU requirement).
CK2 will almost certainly run slower on the same hardware but you shouldn't have any problem just getting it to run at all.

That's almost a shame. I really thought EU4 would be you guys taking your chance at seriously upgrading the engine.

Which is not to complain about the CK2 engine. It really is a lovely thing.

You can up the engine without increasing the requirements.

I hope, that there will be that low res. mod for EU4 as well as for EU3 and CK2
Even better, hope it will not be necessary to mod this (i.e. allow you the option to scale the interface). This was discussed specifically in another EU4 thread.

I, like some on here will be buying a new system to play both CK II and EU 4...to run CK II without slow downs what spec's would you guys recommend?

Thanks!!

How do HttT, HoI3, and Vic2 run for you? The CK2 requirements are not that much higher.

If you are thinking about economy and are going to use it for "normal" use plus some gaming, you should go for something with AMD CPU and GPU, instead of Intel and Nvidia. They usually comes out best in price compared to specs, but loose out on specs in the high end classes.

These two components are the most expensive and also the most important parts in any computer.

Depends on your budget and if you play any other games or do other stuff which is more demanding than CK2. For just CK2 (and games with similar requirements) I would personally go for Intel i3 based system which gives good performance for reasonable price and an option to upgrade in future if needed (assuming you pick a decent motherboard which supports the newer Ivy Bridge CPUs).

For a tight budget Intel's Pentium G840/850 are solid choices if you are planning to use discrete graphics card (if you pick a suitable motherboard it also allows you to upgrade to a newer and more powerful CPU later on). If you want to rely on integrated GPU then AMD's APU's are better choice even though in CPU intensive tasks they are generally weaker than Intel's CPUs and you won't have as an easy time to upgrade CPU.

Prebuilt computers are usually cheaper but they also use cheaper components when possible, eg. PSU or motherboard which both make it more difficult to upgrade in future or cause other problems (especially with a poor quality PSU).
