I'm interested in EUII multiplayer, but my modem is only around 40 kbps. Is it fast enough?

doubtful :( unless u live next door to a pretty good host, the minimum connection seems to be a 56kbps modem.

Depends, if you are willing to play on Slow speed or Very Slow speed, you might be able to play. Or perhaps with Below Normal with serious lag.

It may work. Try it, but don't let the host take the game above normal speed and see what happens. If there's a problem, move to below normal. If that doesn't work, then the answer is no.

If it's just your modem causing the problem not your line, just upgrade to 56k dialup. That should work fine most of the time, and a 56k PC internal modem is not expensive.

Unfortunately, it is the line. Sounds like it may work at low speeds, I usually play SP at above normal/fast - what is the normal MP speed?

Habitually we're fixing it at BelowNormal-Normal mode. Rarely it's AboveNormal or Slow unless we have big battles evolving between players.

Put all your chances on your side : Try to close any chat softwares before playing, run any SpyCleaner, clear them and also your temp files (internet and windows ones). You could also update your modem driver and try to get a 56k connection on your isp. If you have noises on your line you could always change the wire itself.

Modems aren't so bad, I've played with them for a couple of years no problems, on speeds of above normal at times. And my modem isn't all that good.

You know, there is a difference between kb and Kb. As for kbs it is 115 so more than twice as much as quantum has. Oh, and you can't just write 'kbp' - it is 'kbps'. Per second you know, not just per. Idiot :p :D ;)
