I'm wondering, will this game run on my retina macbook pro 2013 with Intel Iris 1536MB graphics card? I don't mind if I have to turn the video settings down a tad.

Looks like that card is pretty good, so as long as the system requirements aren't greatly increased from EU4 (I don't think they'll be) you should be fine even at higher settings. No guarantees though as the games not even close to out yet and I don't know much about the game's specs.
