Nomads had animals and animal products in abundance, but not a whole lot of manufactured goods.
The nomads near china and other settled areas tended to be richer due to their trading. They weren't only raiding.
Will there be interactions to trade away extra herd for money?

From what they've shown so far it seems like the nerd is meant to at least partly replace the gold as a mana pool for nomads, so I don't know why anyone would trade herd for gold.

The army won’t get stronger, nor will your yurt get upgraded without gold.

I got this idea from a Mongols documentary I was watching that said that nomad horses were always in high demand, so they'd often sell horses to China.

I imagine that a trade overhaul is coming next year with playable merchants, so it'll probably be represented then, but we do know that the Silk Road will be represented in some form with the All Under Heaven DLC, although it's seemingly only going to depict the spread of technology and ideas from China westward and not include trade goods proper. I suppose we'll have to wait until the dev diaries for that start coming out before we can get a better picture of how it'll look.
