Arheo and producer Jamor is on vacation until at least after easter (tuesday?)

if they are thinikoing of a 204 I wager they're not very clear on what to even put in it yet.

Well, a 2.04 would be another bugfix patch, so it'd probably be things like the imprisoned overseas bug, and (my personal hope) mission and decision related bug fixes

There is unofficial patch mod that fixes some if not most of those things
Link? Name? I am away from the game until monday but I will like to try it if it works and they do not deploy 2.0.4 on tuesday

Given the past patching pattern and amount of "gamebreaking issues" (or at least feature-breaking ones introduced with 2.0) left, I doubt that we will see a 2.04 - as much as I would like to have it of course.

I'm not saying that there wouldn't be enough "bux fixing/balance"-content for a potential 2.04 - on the contrary: I would even say that there is enough for several "2nd-digit-behind 2.0"-ones...but I don't see it/them happening. The issues currently dominating the bug reports, suggestions or main forums are refering to old issues, are too small for triggering such a patch or they go towards changing/reworking entire features. You can argue that the magnitude of 2.0 is greater (and it is also the IR-restart-hallmark) and I concede that this is one point leaving a slim chance for 2.04, but my feeling is a no-one.

And no, I haven't moved over in the IR-doomsayer-tent - 2.1 is already silently brewing deep inside the devs heads :)

the positive thing as Herrenius said, is that Imperator is currently one of most polished PDX games. Which is a surprise, but a welcome one.

I am ok to wait till 2.1, which would hopefully make things more historical, with big eastern empires breaking off, so Rome can jump and pick up the pieces, and Carthage actually be a dangerous opponent

You can go back years for bugs that have never been fixed in EUIV, many of which have occurred because there's too many modifiers piled on top of other modifiers, ditto for systems and mechanics, meaning the devs don't know wherre to start to fix things. So what do they do? sweep them under the carpet and sell you more DLC's with ever more modifiers, systems and mechanics and make it look bright and shiny...

It's enough to fool many into parting with their cash, that's for sure.

This is unfortunately all too true.
EU4 has many years old bugs, some of which have persisted since some of the earliest versions of the game. Even during the "big bug fix" patch it had recently many years old bugs were completely and utterly ignored. There was an excellent post that survived for some time about the most glaring bugs and inconsistencies in EU4 that never got any attention from devs whatsoever. Everything on the list was laid out in good detail by poor Themeinteam who has probably lost all his hair in his fight to get the devs to even acknowledge the existence of these bugs, just for almost that entire list to still be valid to this day I think. The deafening silence and flat out refusal to acknowledge from the various devs over the years on many extraordinarily well reported and well known bugs is very telling of company policy.

This is quite sad as the company had become my favorite gaming company so fast at one time and now while they might make some of my favorite games, I think the days of actually trusting them to deal with real issues is past. EU4 now gets "fixes" that removes tiny little exploits used by a few youtubers. They "fixed" away forming multiple countries with their end-game-tags that absolutely NO ONE wanted or asked for and that 100% was targeted at 1% of the people playing the game.
I do truly think that the multiplayer balance is what they patch for which is a fundamentally flawed philosophy IMO.

You keep using that word but I'm not sure if you know what it means. How about you play a few hours of Stellaris and report back to us afterwards?
The only way to make a PDX game look bug free is to compare it to a buggier PDX game... ❤

I find CK3 less buggy than imperator. Ever since devs started the overhaul there is always a huge gamebreaking bug after a big update.
Tho I have to say Imperator(2.03) is the only paradox game I have finished from start to end date in Iron man mode.... Could be it hella fun or the lack of mega overhaul mods....perhaps both.

to start with, the DLC mission trees being bugged and the base game missions not being updated to use the new mechanics about buildings

i will admit that i have not played every PDX game, but of the ones ive played Imperator 2.0 feels very cheap and unpolished

It's interesting how different perceptions can be. Granted, I've only played as Rome, but I find the game to quite well polished.

But the again, 'polished' is extremely subjective I suppose. :D And I've been playing PDX games since Svea Rike, so maybe I'm just jaded...

Imperator has flaws, but the game now after Marius and the game before is like night and day. If Paradox would do something similar for EU IV, which is showing its age for quite a while, it would be a breath of fresh air, a much-needed one.

There are still things to improve in Imperator, like for instance, the implementation of fragmentation of eastern kingdoms... but that will probably happen in near future

As it is obvious that the new team is willing to make this game even better

And that makes me happy, very happy
