I don't know if it's been mentioned already. I certainly haven't seen it anywhere. But the ruler designer wasn't there in vanilla CKII.

If anyone knows if it's been referenced at all, I'd be curious to hear it. Also, if you have any opinions on the subject, why not share those, too?

Personally, I'd be pretty disappointed if it wasn't there. It's just how I usually play, so I would definitely miss it.

I'm not sure but I'd imagine it would be in the game given that Paradox is really trying to emphasize roleplaying and characters this time around.

It's definitely one of those little QoL things that I would be sad to not see transition from CK2 to CK3. Same with the barber, coat of arms editor and so forth. I'll admit I have no idea how easy or difficult it would actually be to add those into the new system, though; from my untrained outsider view, it seems like it should be simple enough.

My guess is Yes.
1. It's a very popular feature of CK2.
2. The higher focus on RPG aspects.
3. Ruler challenges will grant cosmetics you can use. (Assumed to be for character creation at least?)

I'd guess no, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

From what little we know so far, transitioning to a new character late in his life would allow you to redistribute points. For a game that appears to emphasize unlocks for characters and lineages, I'd be surprised if some form of ruler designer didn't manifest.

Ruler Designer was one of the first dlcs I bought but I never use it because it wasn't what I thought it was. What I wanted it to be was a way to play a historical figure, but with the education you want him to have. Now one can do this on certain characters by simply reloading but I'd rather not have to do that and would want any dlc like RD to give us that ability.

It's SHOULD be. After all that the developers said about the focus on roleplay and characters, not being able to create your own character will look like a bad joke. Unfortunately, this may be in the form that they decide to sell it as a DLС. Which will make the joke even worse, by the way.

You already can change hair ingame. Maybe(most likely) they also allow change hats/clothes and background. However, I fear that the developers, even leaving the ruler designer, will remove the ability to edit the character's face appearance(due to the transition of characters to 3D). The ability, which for me personally, is its main advantage, because for me, the beauty of a ruler is as important as his skill.

If not at the start it may be released later down the line like in CK2, or at least something like it.

It wouldn't surprise me. But it would be highly disappointing, in my view, to need to wait for a possible DLC to deliver that feature. Not knowing when or if it'll ever show up. Honestly, it would kinda kill my desire to play or buy the game at launch. Which might sound silly. It's only one feature of a game that otherwise (In my opinion)looks great. But it's a really important one for me and the way I play.

OP, you and I would get on famously. I really hope that those of you saying it will likely be in are correct, as I’d have to agree, not being able to customize my starting character would be a pretty big buzzkill.

Edit: Also, given the info in today’s dev diary, it would be a very convenient way to start out as your own Dynast ;)
Then again, there have often been times I wished the CK2 designer would let me slot my new depressed, slothful, gout-ridden, kinslaying, strong, genius 20 year old into an existing dynasty.

In the original it was mostly the face. If a new one comes out I would love it if they would expand it to the clothing they would wear. With the clothing a mixture of religion, culture, rank, and time of year. Judging by the beta screenshots it should at least include the upper body like the shirt, hat, masks, and face-paint. Although if the full figure is shown, especially in event decisions, you'd get a lot more options like suits of full body armor during wartime or long eastern robes from the east. The "far east" if map ever stretches that far. One could always hope.
