Windows 7 and crashes

I just installed Windows 7 and the game runs really fast on there except that it will not let me pick 1900 x 1200 resolution. The games goes there to loading process and generates everything and then crashes when the game is just about to start.

I was running XP64 before and it ran at that resolution.

any ideas why it is crashing? I am using a 3870 card
