So. I've been having problems trying to install EUIII with the new Windows 7 operating system, so I dropped back to EUII.

Here's the interesting thing: EUIII installs but the graphics are all funny, then EUII won't even install with the AutoRun, so I do it manually. It installs perfectly fine, but will not start up at all. I mean, double-clicky gets me nada.

Uh, help?

Try these, in order: Rename the EU2 AVI directory to anything else, which stops the intro movies from running. Check for updated video driver. Turn off UAC. Run the game as administrator. Run the game in XP compatibility mode. Disable desktop composition.

Wow, there's a lot you just said that I don't understand.

Rename the AVI video thingy. Done... Nothing. Doesn't even pretend to load/open.
Updated Video Drivers. I think they are, but how do I check that out?
Turn off the UAC. What's the UAC?
Run the game as admin. How?
Run the game in XP Compability. Again, how?
Disable desktop composition. What?

UPDATE: I ran it as Administrator (thanks for that) and it opened fine. Let's see if it stays the course. Thanks much AndrewT.
