Windows Crash on Exit

Sorry that my first post on what appears to be a fascinating game is a complaint, but I didn't see this covered in any other posts.

When I quit the game using the 'Exit' button I get a Windows blue screen of death with the error message:

Fatal Exception 0E at 0028 C02687CA in VXD VMM(05) 8426B7CA

This doesn't happen with any other games or app. I can close the game with no problems from the task list. My system:

PII 450
Soundblaster Live Value
Creative Riva TNT2 Graphics card (32 mb)
128 mb RAM
Windows 95 OSR2
Direct X 7

I just noticed in Patric's 1.08 announcement that a crash bug in the front end will be fixed. Is this likely to be the cause of my problem?

To update this. With the 1.08 patch, I'm no longer getting the Window crash when using th 'Exit', however the game now locks up the system with a black screen and a broken green bar across the top of the screen.

Immediately after clicking on 'EXIT' from the intro screen. It doesn't matter if I actually play a game or simply start and try to exit straight away.

Edited to add: I wonder if this is connected to the problem report by Lawtyger and others in the other thread?

My machine still crashs on exiting out of EU. It switches to ablack box entitled EU and takes up 75% of the screen. This Box is persistently on top of anything else and I have to restart to get rid of it. And when I restart I get the Blue Screen of Death as well...

Great Game, I just wish it worked properly.

same here

I can use the exit button too, it takes about a minute then I go back to the desktop. However if I try to start anything else, like WinExplorer, then it freezes !

Got a PII-333/256RAM/Voodoo3000 16MB/Win98

This game really has a problem with memory management/OS interfacing - or perhaps its just Windows again
