I have disabled all mods

Yes

Summary

Windows EU4 1.36.2 Frequent CTD

Description

I've been getting more and more frequent crashes with this save file. I used to be able to go a year or two, now I can't load it without immediately crashing a month later. I've never experienced crashes in many hundred hours before. No hardware changes. The save file and error log are attached.

Edit: it appears to only crash when I'm at war, but only some wars. I can't pinpoint what the event is, though.

Steps to reproduce

Unpause, wait a month or two and crash immediately

1.36.2

I tried your save and it didn't crash for me on Linux. Does it crash if you just unpause and do nothing? Or do you do something in your war? On thing which occasionally leads to crashes is having armies with autonomous sieging

Yes. I run on speed 5 normally, speed 4 appears to also crash it. I don't use autonomous sieging. Did a complete reinstall of the game and having the same issue.

If I melt the save and use winwars to immediately peace out, I'm fine and nothing crashes. If later I start a new war against the ottomans I will crash inevitably.

i7-13700KF + 32 GB RAM + RTX 3080

Edit - starting an entirely new game and using console commands to revoke in 1444 and declare on the ottomans crashes me.

Update - Complete reinstall as listed in the instructions (wiped all data) + complete wipe and reinstall of graphics drivers + reflash of mobo drivers + reboot, appears to have fixed it. One of those.

The windows event log suggests a memory leak - I suspect it was some combination of dirty mod installs or some hardware level issue that is now fixed. For the future people googling this issue double check your drivers, disable overclock, check your CPU heat, and check your windows event log for unhandled exceptions or bad memory calls. If you see something like WHEA-Logger Event you have the same issue I had - and it's (probably) not EU4 specific.

Thank you grotaclas for checking for me!
