Hello and thanks for reading.

Anyone have a fix or know if the developers themselves are aware of the problem running Stellaris in DX11 in Windows 11 using Auto-HDR? What happens is the game loads but it's just a black screen, happens regardless of windowed mode, borderless windowed mode or full screen.
I'm running Nvidia 3090Ti, latest Nvidia drivers and latest Windows 11 version as of this date. Resolution is 4k and the screen is LG Oled HDR Gaming TV 120Hz so Stellaris looks amazing but Auto-HDR makes everything that's not native HDR look much better, yes it works.

Thank you.

I'm not aware of any existing report to the developers on this, but you might try searching the Bug Reports forum for one.

If there are none then you are welcome to be the first to report it!

Whether it will be considered I cannot say, but at least it will be in the system then!

Thanks, I've reported the issue. I'm not alone, I found another Windows 11 user with an HDR screen that had figured this out so it's a general issue on Windows 11. Thanks for a great game, looking forward to seeing in HDR one day but it looks stunning in max detail on a 48" OLED 120Hz Gaming TV.

Just had the same thing happen to me now.

Was working with HDR, then I used the steam-stream function to play remotely, then came back to play locally and the game will no longer work with HDR.
Only without.

All I get is a black screen with the game cursor.
I can hear the game in the background.

Turning HDR off makes the game work again.

Hello. :)
The only way to play with HDR.....deactivate HDR in windows. Start Stellaris and then Alt+Tab and activate HDR again in Windows. Switch to Stellaris back and wow.
It looks incredible! o_O
Of course it's sad! It takes a little years until it is fixed. Or nothing happens at all..................
