Mistborn: The Final Empire is set in an analog to the early 18th century, in the dystopian world of Scadrial, where ash constantly falls from the sky, all plants are brown, and supernatural mists cloud every night. One thousand years before the start of the novel, the prophesied Hero of Ages ascended to godhood at the Well of Ascension in order to repel the Deepness, a terror threatening the world whose true nature has been lost to time. Though the Deepness was successfully repelled and mankind saved, the world was changed into its current form by the Hero, who took the title "Lord Ruler" and ruled over the Final Empire for a thousand years, as an immortal tyrant and god. Under his rule, society is stratified into the nobility, believed to be the descendants of the friends who helped him achieve godhood; and brutally oppressed peasantry, known as skaa.
After finishing the first Mistborn trilogy, I was struck with the urge to transport CKII into the story's setting. My goal is to first get a playable map mod, and then progressively add setting-specific features (like allomancy). The initial bookmark will be around the time of the first book. This is my first map mod, my largest planned mod, and hopefully my first public mod.

First playable release

  • Terris breeding program/stewards
  • the hidden Synod/keepers
  • skaa revolts
  • thieving crews?
  • southern island pirates?
  • remote and crescent raids?
  • more bookmarks?
    • The Lord Ruler's unification of the empire (has to be post-ascension due to static map)
    • post-collapse
    • post catacendre (not feasible without a work around for the static map)

Map update.
Map expanded to include more Crescent Dominion and Remote Dominion
Terrain types done. (For now, might get touched up later)
Mountains. (Free-handed mountains are harder than I thought.
Map bug. (Any advice on what could be causing that visual bug on the right side?)

I'm glad to see someone making a mod for this! Besides Fire Emblem, Mistborn and Tactics Ogre are the top fantasy series I've wanted CK2 mods for. :D

Are you planning to have only one independent realm (the Final Empire) with everyone else on the map as vassals? Or do you have something different in mind?

What is your map size ? I think it has to do with map width not being a multiple of 256 (or 64 ?).
2240x1792
So it's a multiple of 64.

For the initial bookmark, I think everyone's going to a vassal of the Lord Emperor. Eventually we may get some independents in the outer dominances. The second bookmark will be after the Collapse. So there will be a lot more independent rulers in that one.

Initial release uploaded.
Not much. Basically a playable map of the Final Empire. The Lord Ruler exists and is immortal. There's a basic de jure structure, but its not de facto like it should be. Disabled vanilla events and haven't added any, so probably pretty boring to play. At some point, the height map needs more detail, the Western mountains will be redone to be more similar to the Eastern ones, and more provinces will be added in the Inner Dominances.
But, up next will be building up the structure of the Final Empire, which means refining the lord ruler and his controls on the large empire.

Well, I'm most certainly watching this. I would offer to help, but I'd be so utterly useless it's not even funny.

Thanks. I might take some time to add a 'looking for help with' section to the first post. That might make it easier to help with little things here and there. Some things off the top of my head:
  • coming up with province/character names
  • putting together a timeline for the events from the book
  • writing events
  • portraits
  • loading screens
  • Playtesting/reporting bugs
