Privateers, mercenaries, 120 new provinces, 1419 and ending in 1820! And the ability to "strike trade agreements, crave military access or persuade your neighbour to commit to neutrality" in peace negotiations. Great.

What's this? "Sole Defender of the Faith"!!! I've been banging the drum on that one for some time. Good job Paradox.

.......... and people have the front to say that Paradox doesnt listen!

Well, now I know why its been all quiet from Paradox for a few weeks - it wasnt just holidays.......

Yeah, it seems to be alot of what people have wanted, and I am soooo eager to get this game. It could make or break christmas for sure :)

I hope paradox does a little somethin with pirates in the new game. like give a nation the ability to turn their fleets or part of it into gold/ship capturing pirate fleets, man would that be a blast aye:D

maybe make it so that a country has to have such and such technology before they can reach certain levels of piracy or use the piracy option etc etc.... pirates were a big part of that world back then

Looks as if we might have another Combat mission driven game here. A game inspired by gamers and written by gamers. Both games have fanatically large posts and posters. CM has about 250,000 posts. No idea how many here. Delighted to hear about the addition. I think another time period would require another engine is this a far better way to go about the next step

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSS!!!!!!!!
LOVELY!!!

I think we are nearly at 164,000 now - and its going to get more fast!
I think that you are correct about EU2 - another time period would have required more work and much more time spent working on it. This *is* the way to go for now.

Here Here !

Just when you are still reeling from the brilliance of EU 1 ..Paradox goes one further !

Hail Paradox !

:D

i think pirates you should be able to get colonies or take them (not very often and not many) from other countries.... If the colony was taken from a country that country should be able to take it back without declaring war and only the real owner should be able to take it back.. in case of war, the enemy don't have to take the pirate colony to be able to annex the coutry.. If the country gets annexed, then the pirate colony is an independent province and any country can take it.. If they make their own colony everyone can take it..
And if you take a pirate colony should get a small amount of gold, how much depends on provinces and trading centers near the colony..

I too love that idea about pirates, not much gold but some, so that you cannot live on it, you need other stuff too. :)

If they have captured lot of Spanish ships then of course should there be a lots of gold in the province...
Another idea, what if for example pirates make 2-3 colonies next to each, maybe they could form their own country.. off course hated by the whole world...And maybe you should be able to pay pirates so if you are playing England they will hunt French ships rather than English and other countries... Im sure they used pay pirates so they go for the enemies ships instead

Actually I read it that way that you CAN use pirates yourself... They mentioned in the anouncement that you can use Privateers... THAT IS PIRATES :)) or at least that is the way they worked in the boardgame, and as you can see on the leader list from EU1 Drake f. inst. is a privateer, but the privateer option was never implemented... Now it is !! Ohhh I'm looking sooo much forward to this game...

But where is Judaism? Is it not a religion to be included?

Spain prior to the inquisition. The Jews were spread thin throughout the world after the Diaspora. You'd be hard pressed to find any province in the world at the time with such a prosperious, thriving (but not majority) Jewish population. This would change over time, but not at 1419.
