They need to randomize your first two henchmen. IT's boring to ALWAYS get Maria and Hugh. Especially since Hugh kinda sucks. Is his AI specifically coded to miss and yell "Damn it!" 90% of the time? I'm actually amazed when he manages to actually hit the broad side of a barn.

Would be good if you could level up gangsters like your boss character levels up, also in the early game be able to recruit a few guards from rackets to assist you , or use them to explore the map like the AI does, seems to me as a mafia boss you have to do an awful lot of legwork.

Walk around the tutorial and you can start the game with a boss, brewery, speak, brothel and safehouse.

The early game simply send out your boss and solo the thugs, recon the city, and begin accumulating cash and an arsenal. It is easy to take out up to three with no problem but the gangs of five take a bit of planning. No gangsters mean you save several hundred dollars in expense per week for the first year or so it takes to recon the city.

The gangsters do level up over time so pick the ones you want long term. I hate buying cheap gangsters then firing them.

Then put your boss in a safehouse and sent your newly recruited gangsters out as a small strike team to earn their stripes. It is very easy to do, and most bosses grant economic bonuses when parked in their HQ.

I didn't know that. I'll try it next time. I just finished a game as Ragen in 1924. I would have finished sooner but Frank Donovan was the only foe left and I didn't know where his safe house was, so I just kept taking his rackets until he called for a truce. (several times). I'd refuse his offer, take the place until he finally had to ask to meet at his safehouse.
