I found a web site that sells world history maps by the year, from 1000 to 2001. You can either buy a CD of them or buy individual years emailed to you. They are not as detailed as EU maps obviously, but to me seem quite useful for political control setup in scenario design. The web site is: http://www.worldhistorymaps.com
