When I launch the Game of Thrones mod, I don't see the mod's loading screen. Instead, vanilla CK2 launches. The checksum is BDBO, and I see the vanilla Europe map, but no provinces are selectable and there are no suggested characters. Help?

I just reinstalled and now it runs great. However, it says I can't play as Danaerys because I don't have The Republic installed.... but I do?
That's a bug I've seen mentioned before but since I've never had it happen to me I've never looked for a solution, possibly this is something to be fixed in the next update.

The bug arises because you cannot play as a minor republic (count level mayors).
