In my game britain ignored the non intervention proposed by france and sent aid to spain, then when italy sent aid to spain they sanctioned them?

I can see why they would sanction them if they actually wanted to stay out of the civil war but in this case they did intervene how can they sanction other countries for it then?

You're right, that is so weird! Imagine, a government doing something hypocritical or stupid. Who could have imagined it? Next thing you know, we'll have countries who build nuclear weapons putting sanctions on countries who want to build them. Or we'll have countries with vast colonial empires putting sanctions on countries who want vast colonial empires of their own. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria!

Well the event gives a 15% dissent hit to the UK, so it's not a get-out-of-jail-free, regardless of sanctions.

Considering UK got virtually no IC to speak of at the time its easily used for dissent reduction, so it is actually a get out of jail free card, i just think its ridiculous that they can sanction someone else for the exact same thing they are doing (and not have done long ago as in regards to nukes).

Believe me, I took the UK on a couple of test runs, including this one, and that dissent hit surely costs ya... So much so that I wouldn't even consider choosing it as a human player, whatever the gain in Spain.
Furthermore England historically was the strongest advocate of sanctions in 1936, given their internal political situation, and was able to convince France despite the latter having a left-wing government. The rest just did as they pleased, albeit covertly. The sanctions, those that got imposed, were mostly ignored, so were in itself ineffective.

What do you mean sanctions were almost ignored/ineffective. I clearly remember reading somewhere that Italy nearly ran out of tennisballs during that time
