(Yet another) Game crash.

Athlon 2500+
1 GB RAM
Radeon 2200
HoI2 1.2 No mods, Clean install.


I enjoy HoI2 as much as anyone, but these errors have to stop.

Random crash to desktop, usually coupled with the the sound stopping cold and giving a constant note that the program was on when it crashed. Black screen then desktop. Sometimes it will refuse to shut off, othertimes it will stop blink and the program is gone. Neither give time to save, and this has happened a grand total of 4 times in 2 hours.

Incredibly annoying. It waits about 5 to 30 minutes after game load to do this.
Any suggestions would be nice.

Obviously something wrong, let's try the standard things first:
1) Make sure you have the latest patch for the game.
2) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
3) Set the color depth to 16BIT
4) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.
5) Update your Windows, update your Video card drivers and audio card drivers. Then repeat steps 1-3.
