Well there is a couple of guys to chose between and I have named a couple of candidates that have some sort of connection with the crusades.

Urban II (organized the first crusade)
Richard Coeur de Lion (no intro needed I guess)
Peter the Hermit (organized a spontaneous crusade)
Fredrick II (no intro needed here)
Innocent III (the war Pope)
Hugues de Payens (founder of the Knights Templar)
Gerald (or Raymond of Provence) (founders of the Hospitallers)
Bernhard of Clairvaux (spiritual leader of the second crusade)

And there is of course many, many more to mention.

Ok, my choice would be Fredrick II as he conquered Jerusalem without a single battle. Quite an achievement.

Anyway, thanks for the tip, Wasa...:)

There was also a Baldwin who was King of Jerusalem - 'bout 100 years before the Flemish Baldwin became the Emperor of Constantinople.:)

That's why I'm mixing things up. I'm pretty sure both were Flemish BTW...

There are several Baldwins connected with crusades, here are some Kings in the Kingdom

1100-1118 Baldwin of Le Bourg
1118-1131 Baldwin II
1143-1163 Baldwin III
1174-1185 Baldwin IV

Baldwin I, 1171–1205, 1st Latin emperor of Constantinople (1204–5). The count of Flanders (as Baldwin IX), he was a leader in the Fourth Crusade.
After the seizure of Constantinople (1204), the Crusaders elected him emperor. He was captured (1205) in battle by the Bulgarians and died in captivity, probably by poison. He was succeeded by his brother, Henry of Flanders.

Frederick I Barbarossa
Godfrey IV de Bouillon
