Yeah, I've watched several of them, but haven't been that impressed (not with the game, but with the players). It doesn't seem like any of the people doing these have been following the game any where near as closely as most of us here, A lot of them haven't even seen the game before doing these videos. Then again, there was one guy I watched yesterday that know had previously played, and on this one started with a reasonably advanced start, and was still making stupid mistakes. (He kept getting power issues every time the sun went down. He had a bunch over solar panels and just a few wind turbines. Every time he got an alert he just kept building solar panels. WTF dude?)

IDK, maybe I'm just frustrated that I can't play it myself yet.

Yeah, it's painful to watch everyone I've seen so far. I love watching the game, but hate watching the players playing it. Really looking forward to getting my hands on it. Rimworld, Banished, and Planetbase just aren't good enough anymore.

I've already made an agreement with myself that I'm not watching players play until release.

Quills tutorial, although he's already said will be 5 episodes long, will have to tied me over between streams. But I agree, that one other person, who I thought would have a solid grasp, irritated me. I have to agree, this is probably partly jealousy at not being able to play yet. I'm hoping work will keep me distracted enough to not go mad. I was put off other games already this year because of pre-release "lets plays". Yes lets play...let-us-play.

But yeah, I'm just not watching the "Youtubers" with this one, also not trusting them not to spoil all the mysteries before release.

I've watched a couple but I'm not going to go OTT. I might not even watch the stream next week as I don't want the mystery spoiled.

One thing I have noticed is that people don't seem to be using their rockets as much as I would in the early part of the game. Still thats the nice thing about LPs, watching other peoples play styles.

I watched Quills first one, but that's probably all for me, I don't want things too spoiled...though I did read the achievement list, luckily no major spoilers in it.

My graphic designer eye starts twitching when I see one of these youtubers haphazardly place structures without thinking about the layout at all. I actually stopped watching one video when the guy decided to place his first dome on top of a massive cement deposit but just out of range of a metal deposit that he desperately needed resources from. I thought to myself:

"Ok, I gotta stop watching this before I destroy my laptop screen...I'm out."

Maybe it’s just me, maybe I’m just jaded. But as I see more and more Youtubers getting early copies. I feel slightly switched off to it all.

Don’t get me wrong, i’ve preordered and can’t wait to play, but this is starting to kill the hype for me now....

... well, till I get my steam code that is...

Yeah, I don't like that every goober with more than 3 followers gets advance copies of games.

AMEN BROTHER!!! I could not put it better myself. As an original PlanetBase fan with more base building time-in-grade than some of these plate heads ,having yet to play the game,
I'm confident my 1st time Base would crush them like Grant took Vicksburg..

So far Quill's tutorial is the only one that doesn't completely frustrate me and only because I know its meant to be a tutorial and not a proper gameplay video.

Yep at the risk of inviting vicious mockery of my lack of advanced knowledge (sorry Bryartuck) I've just uploaded a vid. I generally don't follow games heavily before they come out as I prefer to discover stuff for myself. That said I did take the time to play a few games up to a point before starting this video series and I went for a medium difficulty start rather than the (frankly absurdly) easy default settings.

I guess I'm going to have to start doing Let's Pays when this comes out so I can start getting pre-release copies of stuff. It feels like I'm the only one in the world that doesn't have this yet. :(

Heh, well maybe. It's a lot of work though just to get a few games early. Mostly I'm a VR content creator these days as I'm also developing mixed reality tools and it all kinda gels together. I did a lot of Cities Skylines back in the day and had a fair amount of success with Hearts of Iron. But unless you're getting really a lot of views it takes way more time to do right than it's really worth, especially with it being such a crowded market and so hard to build a following. I mean give it a go and see if you enjoy it, but I just be warned its not as easy as it looks ;)

Frankly I was surprised to be offered Surviving Mars and almost didn't take it, but I figured it would hark back to the good old days. Plus it looked like a really good game :p

Yeah I've been surprised with how much Surviving Mars content has been put out over the last several weeks. Made us consider not covering it on our channel when we were offered an early copy simply because it seems the market is really crowded. But then my hype for the game got the best of me lol. We're playing on both the PC and PS4, just released the PS4 video. We concentrate on comedy more than anything else, however my experience with Paradox games means that the gameplay is at least competent as well :D
