I just realized that there's one country that no one has mentioned that was left out of the game: Vermont. Between 1777 and 1791, Vermont was an independent republic. It was part of the territory gained by England as a result of the French and Indian War. Ethan Allen, the American Revolutionary, was from Vermont, and worked hard before the revolution to keep New York from claiming it as theirs. (When it finally did join, it joined as the first state where slavery was illegal, by the way) The game's region for Vermont, Megantic, is listed as a part of Maine, but we can fix that, can't we? :)

Vermont was a one province state that was only independent for 14 years, and spent a lot of that time as a "vassal" of the US. Does it really deserve to have it's own nation tag on that basis? Tags are a limited resource, and there many nations that played a larger historical role that are not represented in the game. Sorry, but I doubt Vermont will be independent.

Nice try though, Archaalen :)

Wasn't Maine part of Massachusetts at the time?

Yup. It became an independent state in 1820 as part of the Missouri Compromise.
