Ck2 Dev Diary #21: A Glimmer of Hope

Greetings! If you are reading this you have survived the outbreak launch of The Reaper’s Due. Perhaps you now feel a stirring of hope; can society rebuild? But no, the DLC was too virulent and has spread too far, it is now endemic to CK2 and cannot be cured, there is no hope.

Certain death aside, we are very happy with the reception of Reaper’s Due and the reactions it’s getting. We have had a few problems, but our Code Physicians have been working hard on a cure and if all goes well we’ll be releasing a hotfix today. It’ll cover the education bug non-Conclave owners have, the lack of music when the Context sensitive option is used, and various other things:
Code:

After this, we’ll be working on the 2.6.2 patch which will, as well as general fixing, add some more events and content we thought up too late to do for the release or that have been suggested on this and other forums post-release -and on that note, please continue to suggest new Game Rules. But 2.6.2 details are for future DDs, that’s all for now!

"tan" when looking for BritTANny for example. We reverted the change that let you do that, so now you can only for titles from the beginning, so you would find TANgiers but not Brittany.

Thank goodness. This was the only performance issue I have seen out of this patch, but I thought my game had totally hung the first time I used the title search.

Ah, oh thats' good.
That's actualy probably better now too, apart from the performance reason.
Thanks :)

A small change that has made my life a lot tedier. When a councillor dies, the alert on top of the screen (empty chair) used to lead to the councillor screen. This was good because you could name a new councillor and set up his mission from this screen.

Now, it brings you to "My council" tab where you can name a new councillor but not set up his mission. So you have to go to "Councillors" screen anyway afterwards.

Would it be possible to link once again this alert to "Councillors" tab?
I figured that that alert sending you to that screen for non-advisor empty slots was a bug, and posted a bug report on it a few days ago.

Could you consider a middle ground where it would serch for all words in the name that begin with the input? To elaborate Writing PAP would return "the PAPacy" but not "yaPAPatuna", because PAP is not the begining Yapapatuna. Or maybe a toggle where one could choose between the quicksearch and the long search.

Oh boy, free stuff right after such a great DLC. This is amazing! :)

That'd probably be just as slow as the partial search, since you'd have to find all the spaces in order to determine the words.

Hey,

It isn't really related to this patch but I've got a suggestion that I feel is long overdue for fixing.

I can auto invite plotters, but if somebody is plotting against me I cannot do anything automatically to make them leave the plot against me. If I can't get rid of the head plotter I'm stuck in a constant clicking war against whoever wants me dead as I continually ask people to leave the plot and then they rejoin 5 seconds later. Can I PLEASE get the right to imprison them for joining a plot after they've agreed to leave? Pretty please?

The auto-end plots button does ask collaborators to leave if the plot leader cannot be made to back down, right? I mean, it's not the solution I always want, but the checkbox does work that way.

Is there one? I cannot find one but it's possible it got added and I'm missing it then. It hasn't happened to me in a long time and I was really tired last night so if it's been added please let me know because yeah, that would fix my entire issue (I still think a right to imprison is better though)

It was added quite a while ago, and it's not at all well-marked, but there's a little square check-box just to the upper right of the list of plots.

As far as I can tell, it first sends END PLOT to every plot leader and then, if there is a plot leader that will say no, sends leave plot requests. Those that decline, if they are eligible for the "dishonorable" imprisonment justification will then be imprisonable.

I'm really digging this expansion and some of the non-disease/plague features added, but one thing that is killing me is Devout Warriors. Any times I try to declare war on a heathen religion, they just spam devout warriors and I end up losing.

For instance last night as a reformed feudal Slavic nation, I attack Romuva and their King had 2000 piety somehow. I brought in 12,000 troops from myself, vassals, and my holy order. This dude summons 18,000 devout warriors plus his levy, for a total of about 24,000. He was able to fund all these troops for years while I tried to pick them off. He only had like 60 ducats.

I think they need to make the devout warriors cost more per month or provide some other tweak to it.

1st time poster to these forum. So its a minor issue but I get a character event that basically gives me humble and diligent but I never become diligent after this event happens. One minor suggestion I would like to make is would it be possible to somehow attach notes to characters. For example I try to be a somewhat just liege so I don't always sentence my vassals, POWs and courtiers to life in prison also I like to try and remember who are friends and relatives of my friends and enemies when deciding on promotions, pardons and granting lands

Personally I'd love to see a Default/Off toggle for the end date. I can see why Off would potentially require ironman to be disabled, but if not it would be nice to give us just one more turn.

Would this be possible at the end of an Ironman-run, to evaluate the score on end-date, then disable Ironman and playing on?

Regarding game rules, I'd personally like to see an option where you can set the Infamy decay rate. So those of who want to play aggressively, but enjoy the added challenge of Defensive Pacts, don't have to wait decades at a time for our next big conquest. Just throwing this out there as a suggestion, but it'd be a nice option to have.

There is something that's been bothering me every time I play a new game and it seems to always be a problem no matter how many different games you play. The AI, like many others have said and needs to be addressed by the next patch ASAP is the marriage AI system as well as fertility tweaks in my opinion. The AI does not make many intelligent marriage decisions and sometimes doesent get married till there almost middle aged such as the king of france in the William the conqueror bookmark. And it takes far too long for the AI to have children or to even have a male heir that may be halfway decent to rule. I would like the major houses of Europe and every where else to have severe marriage and fertility tweaks to give them a far better chance to expand there dynasties. I personally don't like after 30 years in, having to marry the daughter of the King of France and her being of some lucky lowborn house who inherited or took the throne because the Capet house had no children I mean it's insane and almost always happens I know everyone else has to see the same thing as I do. And that's just one royal great house that almost always dies out VERY quickly, others are in example the piast, Arpad. So I suggest like I said a tweak of AI marriage and fertility please.
