Ck2 Dev Diary #21: A Glimmer of Hope

Greetings! If you are reading this you have survived the outbreak launch of The Reaper’s Due. Perhaps you now feel a stirring of hope; can society rebuild? But no, the DLC was too virulent and has spread too far, it is now endemic to CK2 and cannot be cured, there is no hope.

Certain death aside, we are very happy with the reception of Reaper’s Due and the reactions it’s getting. We have had a few problems, but our Code Physicians have been working hard on a cure and if all goes well we’ll be releasing a hotfix today. It’ll cover the education bug non-Conclave owners have, the lack of music when the Context sensitive option is used, and various other things:
Code:

########## 2.6.1.1 The Reaper's Due ###########

After this, we’ll be working on the 2.6.2 patch which will, as well as general fixing, add some more events and content we thought up too late to do for the release or that have been suggested on this and other forums post-release -and on that note, please continue to suggest new Game Rules. But 2.6.2 details are for future DDs, that’s all for now!

I would also like to suggest one more thing that I would like the option to pick in the game-rules. Is the dynamic royal family transition, to where any historical major Royal house such as the kingdoms of France, Castille, Portugal, Naples, Sicily , England and so on that are AI controlled are able to be transitioned into the royal houses that historically ruled during those certain times as the years pass in the game. And somehow are shown through events, such as for example "Raymond of burgundy has married the daughter of the King of Castile and now has founded a new royal dynasty " or something along that line.

"tan" when looking for BritTANny for example. We reverted the change that let you do that, so now you can only for titles from the beginning, so you would find TANgiers but not Brittany.
But now it's harder to find titles such as "The Shia Caliphate" and those who start by "the" or something like that.

Could you consider a middle ground where it would serch for all words in the name that begin with the input? To elaborate Writing PAP would return "the PAPacy" but not "yaPAPatuna", because PAP is not the begining Yapapatuna. Or maybe a toggle where one could choose between the quicksearch and the long search.
But now it's harder to find titles such as "The Shia Caliphate" and those who start by "the" or something like that.

Could it be programmed to always ignore "the"??
This was a hotpatch fix, and we didn't have time to take a deeper look. We will take, though, and see what can be done. No guarantees, though.

Just wondering, @Moah, @Darkrenown, have you seen the AI building hospital buildings in your test games? Because I've seen an AI ruler (the Byzantine Emperor) with over 3000 gold, and not even a single such building.

Being that my post in another thread was actually fairly popular, can I suggest that we get a time sensitive opinion boost for being elected king? It makes no sense when my vassals want to go to war against my perceived tyranny after having just elected me ruler 3 months previous. Maybe a year long boost that then decays over time? Possibly only for the people that actually voted for me?

Maybe make the possibility to search for partial titles an option ? So people who don't mind the performance hit can enable it ?

You will still be able to call your allies into wars like this, when you as the vassal start a war against your liege. The change we made only affects wars started by the third party. So if your ally declare a war against your liege, you cannot be called into that war.
Nope it's not so. I just checked, as a duke of teh german kindom, having an alliance with lombardy I pressed de jure claims and they could not join. i also tried it with actual claims and they still would not join. You really should be able to do that, it makes the game more dynamic and interesting. You should also be able to call vassals under their liege with an alliance, but without the prestige and opinion penalty should you choose not to join as the vassal; Maybe an opinion malus with the one who declares war. All in all, it makes it a bit more game of thrones. What I really wish for is a revamped war system. Making dynamic demands, more like EU4. Devs! Make it happen!

That also means that if a single one of your dozen vassals has an alliance with Heinrich Salien he can call him to war against you for his claim on one of your counties.

I don't know why it was added back in. It was removed a long time ago because of issues it caused. I'm not talking about minor issues either. Vassals calling in outside help causes issues with numerous systems within the game. While it would be nice to be able to reproduce some of the hilarious wars I was in, I think it requires a rework of how vassals work.

I don't know why it was added back in.

I think nothing was added back in. Only a bug that got fixed now.
See:
To clarify once and for all; we've actually not changed any alliance rules with this particular change. We just fixed a bug where you got spammed by CtA's that you couldn't accept, as the target of the war was invalid for you. :)

Not talking about this change, but the change that has allowed the issue to reappear.

But what issue exactly ?
unsure.gif

The issue Petyr Baelish has and described can be caused by several reasons, like a NAP or alliance of Lombardy with Germany.
Don't relations matter too...well stuff.

The problem with calling vassals of realms into wars is that you end up with numerous accounts of being at war with allies because of being a vassal. This was stopped a very long time ago when I created a bug report showing how I was fighting my ally. My ally was at war with my liege, even though I was "Independent" in view, I was still their vassal. Which meant I was fighting my ally and we couldn't be in the same provinces during the war. This issue is related to vassalage, allowing vassals to join external wars creates issues which are as far as I am aware unavoidable with the current set up.

Maybe an extra option for the gender equality rules, where it's open only for player and restricted for AI? My terrifying valkyrie runs just aren't the same when everyone else can be one too.

The problem with calling vassals...

I don´'t think what you describe is currently possible, assuming i understand what you refer to*, but i'm neither sure nor have it tested,
thus i'd be a terrible sparrings partner for this argument and any further post by me now would be potentially only a thread filler.
Somebody else would have to pick up this specific discussion, maybe a dev.
Thanks for response.

* to be sure i'd need a link to your bug report

I would like to see these game rules:

Levy Replenishment - Slower / Default / Faster

Tournaments - Oefault / Every Five Years

Console - Disabled / Enabled

(for those of us who would like to drop their cheating habit, but can't bother with Ironman)
