CK2 Dev Diary#27: Continued Converter Capabilities

Hello and welcome back to this second part about the Converter update which will be released tomorrow.

As I mentioned in the replies last week, Immortal rulers from CK2 now get the Immortal Ruler Personality in EU4 and will not die of old age. You can also pick “Immortal” in the EU4 Nation Designer, although it is rather expensive. Rulers cannot become Immortal during gameplay in EU4 though.

Ideas for European Tribals - because before every tribal country got standard, boring ideas. Now they can become fearsome warriors!

Improved religions: Now is a better time than ever to convert over your favorite heresy. All converted religions have received new effects, new unique graphical icons and also make use of religious systems such as Fervor and Aspects. Some effort has been made to update the EU4 events to account for these new religions by checking for the religion rules rather than the specific religion where it makes sense. E.g. checking for fervor rather than Reformed for fervor events.

That covers the largest Converter changes, but there have been plenty of little fixes and tweaks which you can read about below:
Functionality has been added to adopt your EU4 game to the status of your CK2 one in matters such as dynamic provincial development, government ranks, making the CK2 heresies and religions use the new religion features of EU. Time has also been spent to fix old issues like missing flags for rebels, errors in province mappings, and missing descriptions for the converter religions.

Patch notes
Unit types are now based on capital region instead of tech. group
Display "CONVERTING" while converting
Doesn't add Aztecs if Aztec Invasion game rule is set to off

Added the suggested missing titles
Added some more country mappings.
Added some regions to the unit type conversion table.
Government ranks are now affected by imperial administration laws

Added uses_church_aspects trigger. - Added uses_fervor trigger. - Added uses_patriarch_authority trigger. - Added uses_piety trigger. - Added uses_papacy trigger. - Added uses_blessings trigger. - Added uses_karma trigger. - Added uses_syncretic_faiths trigger. Added uses_cults trigger. - Added uses_personal_deities trigger.
Replaced some religion event triggers with the new triggers added by Marko. I have been pretty restrictive and only done this to events that could actually benefit from it.
CKII->EUIV Converter: Converted countries that used to have default national ideas now have custom ideas.

As well as the Converter, we'll also release the full version of 2.6.2 tomorrow. We managed to fix the performance problem we had during the beta, fix a few minor bugs, correct the province name box length update some French and German localisation, and add a popup and pause setting to Call to Arms. We'll post the complete patch notes tomorrow when the patch goes live.

That’s all for now, we hope you enjoy the updated Converter when it is released tomorrow! And in the meantime, don't miss today's Medieval Monday livestream with Emil and Steven - 16:00CEST on https://www.twitch.tv/paradoxinteractive

Also interesting, was playing my converted game a bit and the Renaissance spawned in Masqat , its normally Oman ,...
In these conversions the requirements are way different. Do you mind giving me some examples of generated idea sets?

Speaking of conversion, does anyone know what the converted heresies effects are in EU4? Are you allowed to appoint female generals, for instance, if you are Cathar?

Does anyone know if the whole crown laws thing was fixed? And what crown law do you have to have to not have your realm split?

Iconoclasm includes the desctruction of threedimensional images as statues, because they are considered idolatry. Just because byzantine iconoclasts centered their effords in destroy mainly icons, doesn't mean iconoclasty in general is centered in it.
Protestant iconoclasty is a good example of this.

Anyway, I would like to know too if the broken statue represents iconoclasty. Can anyone confirm it?

You are grossly misrepresenting Iconoclasm as it existed in the time-frame of the game.

The Eastern Orthodox already rejected statue-making as objects of reverence.

Only the Roman Churches approved of statue making.

In CKII, Iconoclasm is the historical opposition to painted images of the Saints and God.

Depicting this as a statue is historically incoherent and rather silly considering the care Paradox took to use imagery that was actually used by these other different groups.

What happens if you are immortal and in a government form that replace the leader on a regular basis?

IE: Merchant Republic, Bishopric?

I'd imagine that Republics with immoral rulers would either start as "dictatorships" or just reelect themselves until they fall into dictatorship and will revert to proper republics if they die(because in the rare cases it happens you'll likely have your Republican tradition up to max)...

But I suppose I could just test that with some cheating...

*goes test with cheating*

nope loads in as normal Merchant Republic, and the tooltip says AI behavior isn't effected by immortality... fast forward in observer to see the election and... they turned him over for a new guy... oh well, seems the AI don't know what to do with immortal politicians.

also I noticed you no longer get cores on De Jure territory that you don't control at the time of conversion, but instead get permanent claims like formable nations in vanilla get on their would-be lands...

anyway I've been having a problem; in my Mongol Empire playthroughs I haven't been able to give away kingdom tier titles to my vassals(specifically I'm trying to give Persia to a local lord so I don't have to deal with the constant independence factions, not to mention the huge chunk of my vassal limit all those dukes and counts eat up), and I can't find any reason why I can't...

Aha, I'm agree with you then. I thought you were saying that iconoclasty, not only in the byzantine empire but in general, was centered solely in the destruction of two-dimensional icons.

Anyway, my suggestion would be to change it to a broken icon of christ, but I doubt they change it ever.

On bug I have found for the converter is that I can't promote cultures properly while playing a converter-save mod. Don't know if I should post the bug report in CK2 or EUIV forum. (for the time being I'm going to post a bug report in EUIV though).

Also funny thing that happened; so I made a converter game using the 1066 William Conquerer bookmark as a base, with some changes consoled before conversion (mostly larger HRE and broke up Byzantium a bit). Most nations got default (random) national ideas, but England got French ideas. :D

What were some of the random ideas?

So would a broken stained glass window or burning painting of Jesus be a better icon for Iconoclast?

No, just a simple cross. No elaborate frills, no designs, just a cross.

Similar to what the Protestant cross looks like, considering the Reformed Cross would look like, since the Reformed were also largely Iconoclasts.

But we already have such a cross as an icon, it would be very confusing if the iconoclasts got one as well. Say what you will about the historical accuracy but at least the current picture is iconic.
