CK2 Dev Diary #78 - Polishing up the Map

Greetings!

We’re working away, and we’ve been working away for quite some time now - it’s just much too early to go into detail on what we’re doing yet, but rest assured that we have a lot of interesting stuff going on!

Without spoiling the theme of the upcoming expansion, we want to give you something to look at and discuss. In addition to all the theme-specific features we’re making, we’re also slowly working our way through some of the more neglected areas of the map, correcting mistakes and increasing the granularity of the playing field. Here’s one such area, Poland:
Poland_update.png

Code:
- Map Update to Poland
    - General overhaul to the De Jure territory of the Kingdom of Poland
    - Vistula (major) river tweaked to be more geographically accurate
    - (Minor) river Oder tweaked for more geographical accuracy
    - (Minor) rivers Warta and Bug added
    - 6 new provinces, mostly improving granularity in Mazovia and Lesser Poland
    - All old provinces moved and reshaped for more consistency
    - Some updated provincial Coats of Arms

Later this spring (date yet TBD) we’ll release a bug-fixing patch, so remember to head over to the bug forums and report any issues you find.

Please note that the time between Dev Diaries will be irregular, as we’re very early in the development cycle.

Sorry, I can't but laugh :D

We talked about this.

Both here and in PM discussion I have repeated at least five times to you that taking population as the reference point - the most important thing to consider when making the map - is wrong and does not happen. It is one of the factors which are taken into consideration and certainly not the main as you understand it and try to push. Arthur's words don't deny, but confirm that.
Should i quote from the pm? This is for people reading the thread. Here you clearly said the map is designed on the 11th century, 14th century population and map is just wrong for reference. I don't think it is the main, like i said at the start i didn't want to get into a debate about power because it's subjective, so i only referenced population estimates. In hindsight i should've said something about other factors, instead of just avoiding your points.

you can quote whatever you want, as long as you follow general courtesy and don't put things out of context. If you keep seeking quarrels and arguments and for the sake ot it you fail to see whole message of sentences or whole posts through single letters, I'm done with you.

I'm very sorry, but I'm exhausted trying to discuss with you. :(

Maybe this belongs in the suggestion forum or in an more resent DD.

1)The skins are mostly already present (albeit fairly simple ones), some of them in DLCs.
2)Major work for little use, not to mention the present provinces need remaking far more than adding.
3)They already said they can't and won't expand the map further east cause it will be too memory-consuming - before releasing Jade Dragon.
4)Probably the same applies for America; as for Iceland - many people wrote that even two are too much holding-wise.
5)Major work for little use for most people. Being honest - how many CKII players actually check all the time what they have as 10000 warriors - heavy infantry or light cavalry? And we have 6 types of those. Even less use if you speak of graphic units on the field.
6)If you mean timeline with possible bookmarks, that's huge work of VERY little use (most people only play first three dates, and many don't even know you can pick any date from 1066 to 1337). If you mean moving the ending date further - that's a possibility, but it would be unfair for comparing scores (although it _would_ be nice if you could continue playing after the ending date, like in some Civilization or Total War).
