CK2 Dev Diary #87 - Killing Spree

Greetings!

Today I’ll cover a minor feature of the upcoming Holy Fury expansion, the ‘Kill List’. The Kill List is, simply put, a list of everyone a character has killed and how they died. The list is accessed from a button in the character interface, in our example here we have a typical incarnation of Genghis Khan:

This button is visible on all characters, living or dead, and shows a list of all kills that are public knowledge (so you can’t see any secret kills a character might have). The list itself will open to the right of the character interface, and looks like this:

Now, while there aren’t many actual gameplay effects tied to this feature (save a few events) you might still feel inclined to become a murderous tyrant. If you so happen to kill more than 5 other characters, you will enter the Ledger - where the most depraved killers are listed at the top. For some reason, characters with a Reformed Pagan religion using the Bloodthirsty Gods doctrine tend to top the lists... more on that in the next Dev Diary!

Still no release date ? Come on paradox stop teasing us, don't announce your expansions at least one month before release !

Okay, now that we're keeping track of kills I can see a LOT of potential new achievements ere -
  • The aforementioned "Han shot First"
  • The aforementioned 300 kills
  • Killing all of members of a single dynasty
  • Wiping out one member of each religion/culture group
  • Killing X number of kids/imbeciles/women
  • killing X number of religious heads
The possibilities are endless !

Return of the Jedi: Only you and your father together in a plot kill an Emperor while you are in a civil war against him.

Edit: added stuff to achievement.

Any chance the secret kills may be listed in a secret kill list so that events can call them and perhaps move them to the known kill list. So you can essentially find out later who killed a character?

This is a nice little thing to have.

Small requests:
Can you add a toggle to switche between only living characters, only dead characters, and all-time living or dead characters?

And in this ledger looks a bit empty... could it also show the year of birth/death so you can quickly see when these murderous people lived?

Also with this update don't forget about the entire Russian map area being made over. You could have an achievement where you usurp the title and kill (great purge) all the old ruling dynasty members with strong claims.

also speaking of potential achievements will we have one for defying the Pope and rerouting a Crusade's target to that of another Christians realm (aka 4th Crusade, we know it is possible from your earlier dev screenshots but is it an achievement?).

Will we be able to sort the list or select specific kill types in case I want to see the best duelist not the guy who captured and executed 120 prisoners after warring an islamic state.

Did not notice anyone asking, but i might be wrong. Still, i wanted to ask if the list is persistent, i.e. are all the "killers" still alive or does the list record killers from the whole game history? If not, maybe there should be such a filter as well.

I mostly come here to read comments from entitled people with strong opinions on how big dev diaries ought to be.

I mostly came here to read comments about people reading comments being arrogant about how fans feel about their favorite video game's development.

Nevertheless i have been waiting for these dev. dairies for awhile, i cannot wait for Holy Fury to come out :D

Does successfully killing someone in secret (ie via plot without anyone finding out) still add to your numeric total for the list, even if it doesn't list it on the character (so no one can just look up and see if you did it)?
