You should release everything for free, and just have the "DLC" as a donate button. The difference between buying it or not, is that people who play CK2 who don't buy it should be put on a giant list, and once a month, a random person is selected off that list, captured, brought back to Sweden, and sacrificed to Odin.

I wish we could do it this way, but I think its illegal in some countries.

Can Tanistry please be made available to at least more European cultures? It's fun and some French king could have decided to adopt the Celtic system at some point.

Im all for less culture-locking of fun mechanics, and the further back we pull the start-date the more plausible it is that odd things could have happened, so Ill see what I can do, no promises.

Still really curious about this, because it affects a mod I've been eyeing to make since I saw the tribal mechanics.

Will this finally allow us to use a command to change or destroy holding types!?

As far as I know, no, it will not, the decision to change a tribal holding to a castle or city uses a special effect that turns the holding into another holding type, I think these effects only work for tribal->castle and tribal->city conversion.

If a former vassal of the Byzantine Empire create a custom empire, will it have access to the Imperial Administration laws? If not, will there be any way to gain access to them?

You will not get the Imperial Administration law for free if you used to be a vassal of the Byzantine Empire, but any empire can ( with a boatload of effort ) enact the law, it requires loads of tech and the highest crown authority and centralization though, not for the faint of heart.

So we can now assign prestige costs for buildings, right? Can we mix and match gold/prestige? Can we assign piety costs for buildings too?

Sorry, the interface got too messy with a mix, so I disabled that, and a piety cost made no sense, so I didnt add that. Ive been thinking of doing a redesign of the settlement interface for some time, if we ever do that Ill make sure there is space for a mix of costs since I want that myself.

"- Electors in feudal elective that like their liege are now less likely to vote for their liege's pick"

sweet, so now we have to discover some gamey tactic to get a desirable heir... i thought that was the point of elective in the first place, getting a decent heir... sounds to me like im going to have to be voting for the person who i DONT want, since everyone is going to vote against me now? hate to be one of these guys, but wow. Dafuq.

Please add "designated succession" for everyone if you're going to ruin elective. If i'm the king my word is law, and if i say my second son is my heir, then my second son is my damn heir.

im so pissed about this, maybe its an indication that this game takes up too much of my time. but stll pissed nonetheless. fucking with elective. dafuq.

Elective was never supposed to be "pick your heir" it just sort of ended up like that, I understand your pain though, I love elective and usually use that unless there is something odd like tanistry to pick from. But honestly, when you think about it, it was kind of OP, wasn't it?

I'm guessing it will be a crown law, then, not a unique modifier or something? Will there be factions that will try to get the Imperial Administration law removed?

Its a realm law, not a crown law, but since only empires can have it it behaves a bit like one, there will not be a faction to remove it, we dont want the Byzantines to loose it and its hard enough to enact that once you have it it should stay, also, it represents a major shift in the administration of the entire realm, a change that is probably very difficult to undo.

Just wanted to say, I think it's amazing that a dev still answers all these questions at 21.15. Officer hours have already passed, just shows how the devs treat this community. It's amazing.

Thanks! I was thinking of playing some Rimworld now, but its not every day you get to write a dev diary on something really awesome and have lots of fans tell you how excited they are. Its getting late though, and I have lots of work to do tomorrow, so this will be it for me, but thanks for all the positive remarks guys, Ill try to answer some more questions tomorrow, but Ive got a DLC to finish as well, that has priority.

People have been saying Ireland will be tribal, so I expect it'll be possible to be tribal Christian. There are more places where tribal Christians make sense (much of the Balkans 860-1100 including Bulgaria - Byzantium would play so much better if Bulgaria is tribal!), and lots of places tribal Muslims make sense (the Steppes, the Afghans, Arabia, Berbers...).

I am presuming that tribal vassals that are not unreformed pagans will be working towards becoming feudal, but probably not as their first priority.

Let's say I'm a Christian (or Muslim) nation and I overrun a pagan tribal duchy in a holy war. So I replace all the indigenous rulers with my own people (holy war, you get to do that). So we now have local rulers of my (culture and) religion who hold tribal holdings. Are they tribal rulers or feudal rulers? But it's a lot overpowered (IMO) if all their holdings just immediately turn into castles.

Anyone can be tribal, and there are plenty of non-pagan tribals in the various bookmarks of the game.

Yes.

Tribal lands held by someone of a different religion from them will be mostly useless to them, and will have a very high revolt risk ( noone said conquering tribal lands was supposed to be easy ).
The tribes will need to be converted, or you need to start building castles and cities to civilize them.

Are you kidding? It doesn't make any sense to have to wait when you conquer one hundred percent of the enemy in months!

ADVISOR: "My liege, we have successfully occupied the entire Duchy of Dooleystan."

EMPEROR: "Excellent! Let's make that loser submit to our demands."

ADVISOR: "Sire, that isn't lawful. You have to wait three years or kill a few hundred of their men."

EMPEROR: "....."

If you 100% occupy them you still get 100% warscore.

I'm 20 pages late on this but YES YES YES YES YES YES YES :) :) :)

This however does mean that if you convert at start of game the Indians will most likely be western.
