Gars couldn't post this himself today, so I'm doing it for him:

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the Captain speaking. I’ve been invited to make a short guest appearance here this week to give you an update on some of the new features that will be available to further mod Crusader Kings II once the next DLC is released.

Ever since the addition of forts to the game, there has been requests to be able to build buildings inside them just as in other settlements. Well, now you can.

And for those mods who want to present their players with their own bookmarks or additional bookmarks, the era selection screen has now been made fully customizable. So there is no longer the need to use our hard-coded localization strings or images, and the number of eras presented can now be set to anywhere from one to five.

Due to popular demand I have also added a number of new powerful scopes to triggers and effects that will make it easier to script complicated events and decisions, such as any_character and any_landed_title.

To whom an AI character gives out minor titles and religious titles are now scriptable in the same way as other decisions, and targeted decisions has gotten a new friend filter.

The new patch will also see a number of bug fixes. Some of the additional family opinion modifiers that were added earlier this year, such as uncle, nephew and niece all had some problems but are now working as designed, and the opinions between a child and his/her mother and father have now been split into several modifiers to allow for more control.

If you are interested to read more about these and other features you can head over to the mod sub-forum (https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?forums/crusader-kings-ii-user-modifications.682/) and specifically the thread Captain's Log (https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/captains-log.774248/)

Over and out.

Nobody said that Dev Diaries should exclusively talk about DLC content ;)
No one said they should be activly avoiding the subject either ;)

Now what we need is the ability to attach things like concubines, polygamy, divine blood, or river navigation to cultures rather than just religions.

Raiding isn't enough!

Though that was welcome.

We got some hints that this expansion might tweak diplomacy and warfare. Now this intriguing coat of arms.....
Could it actually be about Hundred Years' War?
Wishful thinking, we wouldn't be that lucky. As practicing jaded pessimist my religion does not allow me to believe it.

If they were going to focus on the Hundred Years' War, something halfway between CK2 and EUIV would handle the period better. 1337 till 1790s, or some such.
Ck2 handles post 1337 much better than it does pre 1081.

Cheers for the DD Captain :). More modding features are always a good thing - I'm not a CK2 modder myself, but I very much appreciate the support for the modding community.

I'm sure they'll tell us when they're ready :). They're making an effort to give us weekly DDs, and if they're going to be doing that, then they're hardly going to be able to talk about a slew of new features each week. I'm personally enjoying reading about things like QA and modding improvements, but even if that's not your thing, I'm pretty sure the alternative to what we're getting now would be no weekly DDs at all, so if they weren't talking about this I'd bet they would just wait until the content was ready to talk about it, and we'd have no DD at all.

My money's on a late game expansion. If my memory serves, they said the expansion would be something people have requested for a long time.
Yeah, but we (the people) asked for many things :)
Before Horse Lords were announced, they said the same thing. And we debated whether it's China, HRE, Steppes, Russia or late game improvement.
I honestly hope you are right though.

Unless you add the ability to stop forts being destroyed when building new holding, or increase the discount for new holdings based on the amount invested in the fort this isn’t going to be very useful. Losing the money invested via the enemy destroying the fort is an understandable risk to developing forts, losing it just because you built a new holding isn’t.

It has been six weeks now, so they should have something to show soon. Me thinks they announced this DLC a bit too early, or perhaps they wanted to appease those who think CK2 is getting EUIV's scraps.

That latter bit is why we're getting these at all.

Not scrapsbut sometimes it feels like they're using ck2 as a guinea pig for stuff they're going to implement in eu4.

will be secuction finaly fixed and rebalanced with more sense, like no seduction for moslims, since tey have harems and multiple wives, hight treason and death penalty for seducing a queen..etc.
and for hore lords - will they will be rebalanced so that nomads/hordes are not so op ?

Well, they haven't announced the DLC at all - all we know is that there is an upcoming DLC, but we've known that at literally every single point of CK2's development. I definitely don't mind these dev diaries though, it's nice to see the other side of the devs sometimes.
