Developer Diary | Hungary

Jó napot kívánok!

Jonathan here to bring you another Dev Diary for the upcoming DLC Götterdämmerung! I will be (re)introducing you all to Hungary. Originally we had planned to do a minor update to accommodate the Austria rework, but quite early on in the project we decided to give it a proper overhaul as we were going to rework it anyhow and felt it could do with one. Well, since it’s been a long time since the last Hungarian dev diary (7 years to be more precise), let’s start off with a bit of historical context!

Oh, and as usual, please do keep in mind that everything you’re about to see is still WIP so things might change before release and you may see some placeholder art and WIP values. The team thanks you for your understanding!

A zoomed out overview of the Hungarian Focus Tree’s general layout

From Austria-Hungary to World War 2
So to keep it very brief and as simple as possible; at the end of the Great War, Hungary, alongside other states such as Czechoslovakia and the State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs, broke off from Austria-Hungary in an attempt to avoid partition and blame for the war. History would not however be lenient on the Hungarian state, and through many twists and turns, the Treaty of Trianon was signed, leaving them with 92,962 of the 325,408 square km that had constituted the Hungarian crown, as well as with a practically completely dismantled military, and large reparations to be paid. The first Hungarian Republic had been declared, but was soon toppled and reorganized into the Hungarian Soviet Republic. In an attempt to reclaim lost territory the soviet republic entered wars against Cechoslovakia, Romania, the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes and the Hutsul Republic. All of this resulted in the destruction of the Soviet regime and a counterrevolution which in turn led to the reestablishment of the Kingdom of Hungary, where admiral Miklós Horthy would take up the role of regent, a role which he held until the Kingdom was disestablished at the end of the second World War.

I know that you all didn’t come for a history lesson, so let’s move on to Hungary’s starting situation in the game.

Screenshot_3.png

The National Spirits at startup for Hungary

Hungary now starts with four national spirits instead of the old usual one. As can be seen above however, this isn’t a purely negative thing for them, though the Treaty of Trianon has been made harsher to be more accurate to the historical stipulations. Apart from that one, Hungary starts with an economic dependency on Germany, as well as with two different types of active paramilitary organizations in favor of the government.

Apart from this, admiral and regent Horthy also shares a part of his power with Prime Minister Gyula Gömbös, who signed the previously shown treaty with Germany, and who seeks greater influence over Hungary's politics.

Screenshot_4.png

Miklós Horthy and Gyula Gömbös

And with this background and knowledge of the starting situation, we can finally jump into the focus tree, starting with the industrial and military branches!

Common Branches
Screenshot_5.png

An overview of the common branches, with the industrial tree on the left, and the military branches on the right.

As can be seen above, with the rework of the focus tree, I tried to keep it in similar shapes and general positions as the old one, so that the memory and muscle-memory of our old players won’t fail them when starting a new game as Hungary.

The Industrial branch on the left eventually leads into the military branches in the centre and right, and contains most of the expected factories and research slots, whilst the air force, land forces and naval trees contain bonuses and effects that pertain to their respective branches of the armed forces.

Screenshot_6.png

These focuses which previously started the political branches, now start the industrial branch.

The main goal of the industrial branch is to get the Győr program up and running, in order to resuscitate national industries and expand Hungary military capabilities, a program historically launched by Prime Minister Kálmán Darányi.

Screenshot_7.png

A few of the effects and items relating to the Győr program.

The start of the military branch revolves around getting rid of the Trianon restrictions, just as it did before. With the right-most side of the land branch being available immediately, the more technology and industry focused parts on the left of it, as well as the air force branch, require the Győr program to have been started before becoming available.

Screenshot_8.png

The Air and Army branches.

That should be a good overview of the common branches, so let's move over to the real highlights: the political branches!

Historical Branch

Screenshot_9.png

The focuses available to Historical Hungary

The general shape and feeling of the old Hungarian focus tree has been preserved, while being expanded upon. The main difference to the old Hungarian tree however is that historical Hungary, though joining the Axis, now stays as non-aligned under Horthy. The reason for this is that when seeking to gain peace with the Allies and the Comintern and betray Germany, Hungary was invaded and Horthy was replaced by German puppets (with a bit of a back-and forth), the leader and party of whom is now the fascist party for Hungary, with its own branch if they are what you want to play.

The tree starts with reinforcing the regency and the admiral's grip on the nation, while repairing it and repressing opposition groups. The latter half focuses on alliances (to the left) and expansion (to the right).

Screenshot_10.png

Some of the focuses and their effects

The ultimate goal of post-trianon Hungary is almost always to restore Greater Hungary in some shape or form, as will be seen in other branches as well.

Screenshot_11.png

Greater Hungary, restored.

Screenshot_12.png

And as historically, Gyula Gömbös will eventually die, leading to you having to decide on how to deal with the M.O.V.E, the paramilitary organization loyal to him.

But now, on to some alternative history, starting with the actual fascist branch.

Fascist Branch
The fascist branch begins with the same focus as the historical focus, deciding to continue the regency. After that though, things will start to change for Hungary.

Screenshot_13.png

The Hungarian fascist political branch.

Here you will start the game by having Gyula Gömbös attempt to overthrow Horthy and take the mantle of regent for himself. To do this he will strengthen the fascists, which in turn has some unintended consequences…

Screenshot_14.png

The Lead Up events to becoming fascist.

Screenshot_15.png

Gyula Gömbös and Ferenc Szálasi as country leaders.

Though I will not take too much of your time for this branch, here you can see some of the focuses available to the fascists in a bit more detail.

Screenshot_16.png

Some both early and later game focuses.

Screenshot_17.png

You can also embrace the Turanist ideas of Hungarian origin.

But that’s that. Now I think it’s time to show a lot of players’ most anticipated parts of the tree, the monarchist branches (Yes it is indeed in plural).

Monarchist Branches
The monarchist branches start differently from the historical or fascist branches. There are a total of 5 different monarchist branches available to Hungary, that share certain parts with each other or with the historical/fascist branches. They revolve around Horthy deciding to actually name someone king, either choosing to comply with the stipulations laid out by the little entente and thus selecting a non-Habsburg monarch, or going against their will and doing just that, leading to some elevated tensions with your neighbours.

Screenshot_18.png

The monarchist branches in all their glory.

Before we go into detail on any of their specific branches, though there are only five branches, here are a few different country leaders you can get throughout these branches, with a few others left for you to discover, which we won't be showing today.

Monarchs.png

The different monarchs.

So starting on the right in the focus tree, and going to the left, first up we have the fascist king, which works relatively similar to the old version. The reason this is still around is to enable for a only slightly alt-hist Hungary, as well as being able to go a flavor-wise different route while still sticking with the Axis. Friedrich Franz’s two completely unique focuses are these:

Screenshot_20.png

The Fascist Kings focuses.

To the left of him lies the democratic king, which is no longer the only way for Hungary to go democratic, but which has been expanded to have a bit more to do, such as hold referendums to regain territory, reverse the Hungarian brain drain and get a head start on some nuclear projects, or even propose a union between themselves and Romania, forming Hungary-Romania. (And perhaps Carl V Wilhelm might want to return to claim the Swedish crown as well)

Screenshot_21.png

Some of the Democratic King’s focuses.

If none of these are to your liking however, but you still don’t want a Habsburg on your throne, perhaps Horthy has just the thing you are looking for. As seen previously, he or his more popular son can now be crowned king, and they have a chonky branch of their own.

Screenshot_22.png

Horthyist monarchist focuses.

Taking this or the democratic king path, the fascists will begin preparing to oust you, as they won’t endorse a new dynasty nor some liberal Swede. This takes the form of a short decision system, in which you can attempt to stamp it out before it has the chance to escalate to a civil war.

Screenshot_23.png

The Arrow Cross’ coup attempt.

But with those brief appetizers out of the way, it is time to move on to the main course, namely the Habsburgs, of which we will start with the last Habsburg ruler in Hungary, namely Palatine Joseph August.

Screenshot_24.png
Joseph August’s focuses.

His goal is to recreate Greater Hungary, unlike Otto who will attempt to restore Austria-Hungary.

Screenshot_25.png

Some highlighted focuses from the branch, including Hungary’s own “fifth empire” focus.

And now on to the last (but most certainly not least) of the monarchist branches, Otto’s Austria-Hungary tree!

Screenshot_26.png

The new Austria-Hungary branch.

Oh, and do not fret, for I have not forgotten Nattmaran promising that I would show you what we refer to as the Austro-Hungarian joint focus tree, something accessible by not only Austria and Hungary when going down their relevant branches, but also by any of their puppets who were a part of the former Austro-Hungarian empire, such as Czechoslovakia, Croatia or Lombardy-Venetia, to name a few. This branch allows you and your “newfound friends” to jointly build up and increase the combined strength of the new Austro-Hungarian empire (or Danubian Federation if that is more your style).

Screenshot_27.png

The Austro-Hungarian JFT.

Otto’s new tree starts off with restoring the personal union between Austria and Hungary, now with Hungary as the “main part” of the union. While the tree however plays using the new puppet type of “Austro-Hungarian vassal state”, which was introduced in the Austrian dev diary, there are two avenues to annexing your puppets and gaining the old Austria-Hungary cosmetic tags, this being through the focus “A Thousand Year Federation” at the end of the joint focus tree and “Renovatio Imperii” at the end of Otto’s tree.

The foreign policy of Austria-Hungary can be very flexible, as it has the option to either formalize an alliance with a monarchist Germany if there is one, sign an agreement to join the Allies by calling back to the Grand Alliance, or to only trust family, and found the Habsburg Alliance. If you are rejected from joining another’s faction, the Habsburg Alliance focus will be automatically completed.

An image can say more than a thousand words (well I guess in this case because the images themselves contain words..), so I will now highlight some focuses and other interesting things in the Austro-Hungarian branch.

Screenshot_28.png

Some of Otto’s focuses.

And though many Habsburgs were mentioned in the Austrian dev diary, there are always more. Among those are Carl Pius of Spain, Vasyl Vyshyvanyi, Joseph Ferdinand of Tuscany, and Maria de Iturbide of Mexico. There are also other figures that can appear as you play, such as Ferdinand Pius of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, Wilhelm of Wied, and George Bagration “to name a few”.

Enough about monarchism and traditionalism though, how about some republicanism?

Republican Branches

Screenshot_29.png

The Republican branches in the focus tree.

The republican branches all start with preparing for the only required civil war in order to go down a certain political path in Hungary, where they will eventually oust Horthy from power and dismantle the regency. When the civil war is over, it will be time to choose who will lead, all of which will take you down different paths in the tree.

Screenshot_30.png

The possible republican country leaders, main three at the top.

Starting left to right of the branches we have Mihály Károlyi and the Second Republic branch, a democratic branch in which you will also have the option to elect any of the bottom two characters above to become your president. In this branch, the two main choices are between taking the diplomatic approach and attempting to formalize a Danubian Alliance, also unlocking the Austro-Hungarian joint focus tree, or to go for achieving Hungary's ultimate goal of reclaiming the lost lands, doing all in your power to restore Greater Hungary.

Screenshot_31.png

Some democratic focuses.

Now to the communist branches. The first one is Mátyás Rákosi and his Comintern-friendly branch, which centers around utilizing connections with the Soviet Union to build up the industry and military, eventually becoming their bulwark towards the west, acting as a strong minor power in the Comintern.

Screenshot_32.png

Some of Rákosi’s focuses.

And last but not least we have Béla Kun and his, well, Comintern unfriendly branch. As someone who was on good terms with Lenin, but who was nearly executed by Stalin, Béla Kun will attempt to establish his workers paradise in Hungary, no matter the costs. His ultimate goal, like that of many Hugnarians during this time, is to restore Hungarian borders, just like the reds tried to during the civil war. The end goal however in the branch, once you have achieved your peak form, is to take down Stalin’s empire of evil and bring an end to his Marxist-Leninist charade.

Screenshot_33.png

Some of Kun’s focuses.

And before we end this, here is a quick peek at some advisors and such available to Hungary.

Screenshot_34.png

Political Advisors.

Screenshot_35.png

Generals at the start of the game.

Conclusion

And that’s all for today folks. I hope this brief introduction has wetted your appetites and has enticed you to load up a game of Hungary once the DLC drops. Up next is the big one that you have all been waiting for, Historical Germany brought to you by ManoDeZombi and Paradox_Danne.

Oh, and speaking of dev diaries, as a fun throwback I must say, we sure have come a long way since Death or Dishonor

Viszontlátásra!

D3vil (Jonathan) Replies:

Well done!

If I may ask, how does both Austria and Hungary attempting to bring back Otto work? I know for Austria they get someone else if Hungary gets him first, but what happens if Austria gets Otto first?
If Austria takes Otto first, Hungary will have the choice of either going down any of the other monarchist branches if they haven't gone too far, or going down Joseph August von Habsburg's path if they have already locked themselves into a Habsburg ruler. :)

Can I still complete the achievement named Miklos Horthy and the Habsburg Prince in the death or dishonour with this dlc activated ?
Yes, that will still be available.

Will Béla Kun's interactions change if you overthrow Stalin in the Soviet Union?
The focus Denounce Marxism-Leninism will only target a Stalinist Soviet Union. Everything else he can still do as normal though. :)
How will the Hungarian Focus tree look without Götterdämmerung? Will players still have access to the old alternate history paths or focus tree (as seen in the French and Polish alternate history National Focuses without their respective DLCs)?
Yes, old content will still be available if you don't activate Götterdämmerung.

YEAH CARL PIUS IS HERE YESSSSSS
Also, will he be added as an option for Carlist Spain to crown as a king? And can we see his portrait?
For now there is no path, but maybe in a war effort. :)
Also sure, here you go!

1728912337026.png

The icons of the Joint Focus Tree are looking like normal focuses. In AAT the icons are noticeably different from normal focuses. Is this still WIP?
WIP, will be fixed. :D

Dear Developers,

I believe this Hungarian content will be fantastic, and I appreciate your hard work. However, there are a few small issues that should be addressed before release

Regarding Kocsárd Janky, I can change it so that he is returned from retirement through a decision instead. :)
I see you’ve changed the skill level of the hungarian generals we already have, how come?

Also this is quite an update to the old focus tree.
Their previous skill levels were based on how they were later in the war, but a lot of those higher skill levels can now also be regained through various focuses in the military and historical branches.

Also can Horthy become an Admiral if you go monarchist? The video said Horthy is choosing to name a king so I assume he'd still be around?
Yes, he becomes an admiral in some of the branches. :D

Very impressive!!!

A couple of questions, which route will the AI typically follow, or is it randomized?

Could this mean that Anschluss is not a guarantee anymore?
On historical, the Horthy regency path. Otherwise, it has strategy plans for each one, with a lot higher chance for the more "reasonable" ones. :)

I'd like to add to this that in my opinion the "Győr Program" should instead be called "Győri Program" which is a small grammatical difference but it's more accurate this way.
I know, and I really wanted it to use the ő, but sadly in most in-game fonts it appears as a "?", as the engine cannot handle it. :p
Is György Jendrassik available as a scientist for Hungary? Also are turboprops a potential project you can research? Tried asking last DD but got no reply.
Yes, he is an air scientist available to Hungary.
Once again, a very cool dev diary (and a necessary work for Hungary):

Question about the Hungarian Turanist path: Considering that the focus "Our Ancestral Lands" doesn't appear on the focus tree maps, I suspect that it's a hidden path for now, and so it brings me to this question: Will it be possible to gain cores on the Turanist lands or only claims (also, will that come with a new formable)?
Claims, but the Greater Hungary spirit gives compliance gain so that combined with the bonuses with claims gives some juicy bonuses.

My problem isn't with the "ő", but with the "i" suffix at the end. The issue of the letter "ő" I understand.
I see! (oops, didn't realize that what was the thing you were referencing, my bad) I could take a look at it yes. :)

Looks very nice. I noticed the Mexico Habsburg focus. Does Maria Josepha have a portrait or is it a generic puppet focus? Beyond that, I'm hoping the democratic monarchist path and Democratic Republic path have two separate democratic parties leading them.
She has a portrait yes!
1728914036235.png

Also, the democratic paths can have different ruling parties yes, such as Magyarországi Szociáldemokrata Párt, Függetlenségi és 48-as Párt and Keresztény Gazdasági és Szociális Párt. :)
Thanks for the diary and I have some questions.
-There are some new 3D models yes, like a new paratrooper and some militias for example.
-There are a few Admirals, but by no means many.
-Decisions like that one can be unlocked by the focus at the end of the Austria-Hungary path. There are some other cores in other places, but not the main Austria-Hungary formable.
-Yes, they have the Információs Hivatal.
1728914637375.png

-No, they are the same for the different ideologies that can access it, which are non-aligned and democratic.
Dear Paradox Team!

I'm the creator of the huge Hungary mod "Expanded Hungary", which is the most subscribed Hungary mod in the workshop. I wanted to thank you personally for making a new focus tree for Hungary, I am very very excited about it and very glad that you have decided to revise the old tree!
It's a very nice tree, well done! I just have a few questions and hope that you can provide me an answer to them.
Hello, and thank you for liking it!
1: It is less about having them in your government and more about allowing them to exist to take up space in the political sphere from Szalasi's party.
2: Sure, I can show you the focus!

1728914831157.png

3: If you go the fascist tree and keep him (as long as you do that before he dies), he will stay alive, for the sake of gameplay.
4: I think this was an oversight when the icon was made, but there is not much that can be done about it now I think. :)
5: It is not so much a communist thing as an anti-authotarian thing, to spread the ideas of a new republic to the people, sicne this also leads to the republican democratic branches.
6: I have not included his death for now, since for example if he is a king, he likely won't be flying in the battle of Kiev, but I like the idea!
7: He appears in your Habsburg-puppet Czechoslovakia, and it is through him working with you that you can attempt to core Silesia in the tree.
8: Regarding the mod, I have looked at it now (since after designing and implementing the tree, I discovered it about a month ago, and I must say I love it very much!) but I had not seen it prior to this. :D (Also it was a lot of digging in niche books and random Hungarian websites that look like they haven't been updated since 2003 at the latest to find some of this info yes)

Lastly, thank you for your ideas, and hope you are satisfied with my answers, I wish you the best.

/ Jonathan

why the Árpád-striped flag under Szálasi?
Mainly because their party-flag was the Árpád stripes with their party emblem attached, and the branch references him quite a bit, so it made thematic sense. :)
I hope there will be appropriate regnal number for all new Habsburg and friends ^^

Also at this point Habsburgs looks like secret 5th ideology of the game xd

P.S.: Can you explain to me how are Bagrationi connected to Habsburgs idk that and can't find any information about it :(
Very allegedly, no confirmation, but some dubious sources claim he was is contact with Charles I of Austria, but I mainly included it to have as a nice puppet state you can create when invading the Soviets.

Neat stuff! Quick question on greater Hungary: for the map that you showed off does Hungary get cores on all of that Greater Hungarian territory? I only ask because at present Greater Hungary does not get cores on Slovakia, and parts of Transylvania/Yugoslavia. It'd be nice to get cores on all the territory Hungary claimed as their own.
Yes, they can now integrate all pre-Trianon states. :D

Any new MIOs for Hungary with the revamp? Or is that something you're saving for a future dev diary perhaps?
I can show them here: :p (there are a few more foreign MIOs that aren't visible now but htat can be unlocked through some focuses, but these are the startign ones)
1728915653955.png

1728915667950.png

1728915681262.png

1728915713349.png

Are there any focuses targeting Poland, like Poland has to create a PU with Hungary?
Yes!
1728915789384.png

Thank yall Parodox dev team for making Ukraine a valuable part of Habsburg tree could please show us Kingdom of Ukraine in-game and Vasil Vyshyvanyi portrait and stats Would appreciate the feedback
Sure thing!
Here is Vasil Vyshyvanyi and his Kingdom of Ukraine at it's biggest possible extent:
1728916074453.png

Thanks for your answers!

And 2 more questions.
- So, if I understand It correctly, only Otto Hungary and Danubian Federation Hungary can go full Austria Hungary?
- Any new MIOs?
MIOs I posted in another comment.
As for Otto, yes the Danubian Federation for him is an Austria thing, but the Republic Hungarian democratic branch can also form a Danubian federation.

This looks amazing!

Has Hungary’s provinces been reworked at all? If so, could you show us or will they be revealed later?
Here are their starting states:
1728916363830.png

Will Hungary have its own spy agents and scientists for projects?
Though some of these are locked behind focuses, these are the unique scientists available to Hungary.
1728916508364.png

1728916521920.png

And who can be placed on the throne of Georgia?
This guy :)
1728917179219.png

are mios gonna be available from day1 or we have to go the focuses first?
Most of them will be, but some will require you to get rid of the Treaty of Trianon first.

I smell a Crusader Kings V achievement with that "Reclaim the Holy City" focus.

Can you show us the field marshals for Hungary? And maybe some of the other generals that you gain from going down other paths?
Here are some of the other generals you can get in the tree (but not all :p)
1728918306183.png

1728918320501.png

1728918343102.png

1728918367178.png

1728918383097.png

One thing that is not clear to me: Can Hungary get back some of its territory via democratic channels: i.e. create a compromise over the Treaty of Trianon, similar to what the Wiener Decisions made, but this time accepted by all parties?
So can Hungary restore some of its former territory while theoretically staying out of the war?
Yes, in quite a few of the branches.
Thanks :) Will it be a full diplo-restoration, or partial (Southern-Slovakia, Northern-Transylvania etc), or either depending on the situation/answer of the other country?
Depends on the situation and branch, and some parts will be easier to get back than other.
This looks amazing, great work as always guys! I’ve long wanted a Hungary rework and cannot wait to make King Horthy.

I have a question! In the Democratic path, you guys said you can form a union with Romania, Hungary-Romania. Is it just a faction or can you actually create a new formable?
There is a formable nation, though in the branch it starts out as a faction, and will later be able to become one country.

Please show me the portraits of Ferdinand Pius of Bourbon-Sicily,
Wilhelm Wied,
Joseph Ferdinand of Tuscany.
Of course!
1728919196298.png

1728919242177.png

1728919261452.png

Can you show us "Austro-Hungarian vassal state"? You had told about this before but never shown how it works or its effects.
1728919720345.png

Will Otto's portrait be replaced with a new one?
He keeps the old one for his political positions, and uses this one for military positions. :)
Can all of the Habsburgs be put on their thrones by both Austria and Hungary or are there exclussive ones?
Most can by both, but some, for example Vasil Vyshvyani can only be accessed by Hungary as far as I know.

Are there going to be any new leaders for Albania, Croatia, Czech, Slovakia, Slovenia, Romania, LBV except for the habsburg monarchs?
For the most part no. (Since the new characters here are so that Austria and Hungary can impose them on people) :)

Looks excellent! Will people who don't own AAT still get access to the new armor and aircraft designers?

And does Horthy get a crown?
Yes, but as designers and not MIOs in such a case.

Yes, but that portrait isn't done yet, so you will have to wait for release to see it. :D

Will Edward Teller and Leó Szilárd be scientists for Hungary or the US, considering they were both Hungarian but worked on the Manhattan project?
They will be for Hungary, on the condition that you go democratic and attempt to reverse the brain drain they are experiencing in this time. The US has all the scientists they need, so making them available for them as well wasn't deemed to be a necessity. :)

Wait how can you get Vyshyvanyi to rule Hungary?
He can be a Field Marshal for Hungary, and rule Ukraine, but he cannot rule Hungary. :)

Small little question but would the KABSZ aka "the eastern front companions association" be present or mentioned in any form or shape? :)
They are mentioned briefly in flavor text, but not an actual national spirit, as Hungary has enough of those in their branches. :)
Will Slovakia have a small focus tree?
No.
Also, will Slovakia be added finally as a releasable country since the beginning?
Yes, but not manually releasable by Hungary or Czechoslovakia.
Can you please give us the exact number of hubsburgs you can put on every throne of it's possible
By the way great work of that fresh looking Hungrian focus tree
I think 10, but there could be someone I'm missing

What about coronation of Göring as Hungarian king in Crossed Arrows path? I saw information that Szálasi proposed the Hungarian crown to him in 1944, but Göring said that he needed to have the Führer’s approval before he could give a definite answer. The Crossed Arrows also fabricated a coat of arms and a family tree for him, as if the Görings were a collateral branch of the Árpád dynasty.
There may be a way for the Arrow Cross path to get him as a "constitutional" king. ;)
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/goetterdaemmerung-expansion-pass.1705688/post-29919975
I renew my question from this Developer diaries Götterdämmerung | Expansion Pass.
Will Hungary be blocked from attacking Poland in 1939 in historical mode if they are/will be in a faction with Germany? according to history?
Has the historic decision of Hungarian Prime Minister Pál Teleki to refuse assistance during the invasion of Poland been included in the new tree?
Hungary on historical will not be in the Axis in 1939, and Pál Teleki stops being an advisor once you enter an offensive war.

Dear Jonathan,

Wow thank you for your reply, I am absolutely honoured! Thank you elaborating and answering my questions, I understand now!
Just one more thing: Please please please change the borders of Burgenland, they are simply not correct.
I would love to, but due to technical reasons, that would have to wait until some time later, but I will try to do it for by the time Graveyard of Empires releases. :)
How does Hungary has access to Crossley Motors? Also does the UK has them as one of their own MIO?
Yes it is a UK MIO that Hungary can use as long as they aren't at war with the UK.
Does this mean Croatia and Slovakia will also have small focus trees?
No
Sorry one more minor complaint, the "Dunai Gépgyár" is called "Danuvia Gépgyár.
Copyright sadly

Can you at least confirm some of the paths that would still remained free (i consider DoD as free now) without GDMR?
The DoD tree is free, this one requires this DLC :)

Nattmaran replies:

A question for the Devs about this tree and the Austrian one.

When you choose to go down the monarchist paths is the claim strength mechanic, and associated decisions, going to be used like the polish monarchist paths where you can actively make choices to guarantee other nations will submit to annexattion.

Or is it going to be a precentage based chance like the old Hungarian focus tree where the likelyhood of annexing other nations was based on conditions like completing other focus's. Is there going to be a chance that you don't get the annexation and have to restart the run?
Bear in mind that the following response goes for Austria only, I will let D3vil handle the Hungarian part as he knows it better.

For Austria, the demands to subjugate or annex former lands of theirs are decisions. You can of course press those decisions immediately, but, you can also spend time, and pp, to take a few other decisions to up your chances, doing all of them will almost guarantee that they agree. There is still a very slight rng chance that they still reject but let's just say you likely won't see that very often... unless they are in a faction!

If Austria takes Otto first, Hungary will have the choice of either going down any of the other monarchist branches if they haven't gone too far, or going down Joseph August von Habsburg's path if they have already locked themselves into a Habsburg ruler. :)

How will the Hungarian Focus tree look without Götterdämmerung? Will players still have access to the old alternate history paths or focus tree (as seen in the French and Polish alternate history National Focuses without their respective DLCs)?

Can I still complete the achievement named Miklos Horthy and the Habsburg Prince in the death or dishonour with this dlc activated ? I am not sure whether the devs altered the cosmetic tags of Austria-Hungary, rendering the achievement void.

Yes, old content will still be available if you don't activate Götterdämmerung.

Dear Developers,

I believe this Hungarian content will be fantastic, and I appreciate your hard work. However, there are a few small issues that should be addressed before release.

  1. The Burgenland province should be drawn more accurately, as it is much smaller in real life.
  2. When Hungary demands Vojvodina and receives it in WWII, we also got the region called Prekmurje (Muravidék). This state should be included as well.
  3. General Janky Kocsárd had already retired by the start date (1936), as he left the military in 1930.

Thanks if you consider these advises!
Greetings from Hungary/Magyarország

As I mentioned in a post, Fascist King Hungary should at least get some extra focuses, perhaps one like Norway currently has by inviting Porsche, Henschel, Messerschmidt etc. Then I noticed the Focus "Form the Grand Alliance" just ends this section, at least give it the possibility to the same stuff as the Haburgs Alliance, otherwise, why would you do this Focus if it locks you out of the fun?

About the Prekmurje part I agree eventhough it may seem as a small insignificant territory it is true that that was under hungary after 1941(and also think that they should add 1 more state to both Austria and Hungary)
