Development Update | When to expect Dev Diaries

Hello there! Your Community Manager, Katten, here.

Let's get right into it; we haven't talked about our upcoming expansion since all the way back in June. Let's change that and dive right in!

The Hearts of Iron Development team has been hard at work since the end of last year on this upcoming expansion. But I’m here to give you a rundown of what we have planned and when to expect it!

We begin releasing Developer Diaries October 3rd, so mark the date! But don’t worry—we’ll give you plenty of reminders as it approaches. This time around, we’re trying something different. Compared to last year, our upcoming campaign will be shorter, but we've planned it to be highly intense, with something happening almost every single day. We currently plan to have two developer diaries per week, a weekly feature video, a biweekly stream and Q&A, and, of course, plenty of YouTube Shorts and other fun social media content related to the expansion.

Starting October 3rd.jpg

Before I go, I want to thank you for being so patient with us. Tomorrow, we have a surprise for you: we’re releasing the next War Effort update for the game. I want to mention in advance that it’s not a massive update, but patch notes will be available tomorrow.

Until later!
Katten

Also maybe delay Finland’s entry to the war by like 30 days or so and give Germany military access to Finland as currently, Finland gets overwhelmed and peaces out within 3 months. This would help the Soviet’s slightly demilitarize the Finnish front to focus on Germany which would give Finland some early breathing space before Germany comes to help.
Best case of this I ever had was in my latest playthrough. For some reason Finland refused to peace out during the continuation war and got capitulated and puppeted by the Soviet Union, but then Germany went through occupied Norway and capitulated Finland a second time, occupying them for the rest of the game. Lol.

I hope this is the last major DLC for HOI4. I am ready for HOI5 or the next step in the more modern day grand strategy game. I have done everything I can possibly do in HOI4 100x over.

Even playing as Dutch East Indies or the Philippines?

Not even asking you to play my mod, but on vanilla.

It will definitely not be the last major expansion for HoI4. There are other games out there, HoI will still be there if you feel like picking it up again :)

Dont see a reason why. The engine is modern, framework has lot of space for expansion and so far the feature/flavour bloat is not anywhere as bad as EU4.

Great news. Unlike so many other game series, I am happy that HOI 4 is constantly improved and worked on.

So many other publishers make gamers start with a blank sheet of an "improved" re-release of their game concept just to drop it after a year and start with the same game over and over again. I am getting tired of things like "Steven Myer's Civilized Earth XXVI" (game name slightly modified to protect the guilty) when it is basically still the same game with updated graphics.

The surprise is that there is no surprise.
But if this is a weekly surprise... does it mean that every week we won't have anything on Tuesday?
