That's our modest lot for today. We will be releasing Golden Century along with the Spain Update tomorrow, along with a release stream. As for next week, we'll be having a special dev diary, indeed the final one for the year, where we will be doing a bit of a post-mortem on the year, talking about suggestions&feedback, as well as laying out future plans for EUIV, so that you can get involved yourselves in them to a greater degree.

Enjoy the release tomorrow, and see you for 2018's final diary next week.

Not much time left :)

This dlc is poor.

And yet i expected much since Castille-Spain is my favorite country.

I will not buy it now. Maybe in a year like a did with rule britannia.

But it feels rushed, it feels cheap and it feels like you are just trying to squeeze money.

Not the way I want your game to go.

I am really looking forward for this and hope that the Portugal game-experience has been improved. :)
You're in for a treat. Unless you're being ironic.

Portugal has barely been touched with any impactful or unique mechanics, not to mention flavour, not to mention the map change to it (yes singular) is, suffice it to say, ahistorical and a sore thumb on the map. The patch notes in this DD are pretty reflective of that.

I don't follow EU IV often.. Why such a massive downvote? Is this new dlc really that bad?

Reading through the content though, the only thing I can come to a conclusion about is the number of changes seems... like a joke in comparison to other branches of paradox... Stellaris and Crusader Kings 2 for example, both of which consistantly release huge updates with awesome additions and changes... This seems more like a band aid patch than anything. Perhaps thats it?

The DLC is the first one in a while that I'm actually debating whether or not to pick it up.

Every expansion/immersion since MoH has been pretty good up til this one, IMO

Check the previous dev diaries, you should get more or less a clear idea from the comments and feedback. http://eu4.paradoxwikis.com/Developer_diaries

Didn't have much time to read, skimmed through the first 4-5,, most were... generally very well recieved.

hoewever once you hit the Missions one people started rolling.. I don't have time to read much more today. But it seems like people are miffed for various reasons.. 1) This update doesn't remotely begin to fix other previous huge problems with the game, balance, AI, etc. 2) More missions... yay! said nobody ever.. 3) other various reasons thrown in that just adds to it all.
4) My own take from it... this update is extremely lack luster in content, especially for the price.

a quick TLDR.
Clearly rushed out of the production.
its a "Spain update" that barely touches Iberian region. With Maghreb and Pirate republics being much more prominent in this update than Castille itself.
Portugal hasn't been touched by more than adding merely one province for them. And Granada got more flavor than Portugal did in this update. Now, personally I don't mind more flavor everywhere, but Portugese did get shafted by paradox this time around more than usual.
Spanish towns and provinces are still out of whack, with city locations being one of the major examples.
Expel minorities being English thing, not Spanish or Portuguese way of colonialism. <- Spanish history knowing fans REALLY don't like this one, as is absurdly ahistorical.
its generally missed opportunity to add lots more flavor to Spanish region, and the history of Spain. And fix Portuguese ideas.
Castillean ideas get Artillery fire as a bonus, despite Spanish being prominent for its infantry, not cannons.

Think you get the overall picture, plus the lack of attention to Iberia itself to favour pirates and the map changes. The early ones were well received because people still had high hopes.

Third for both monarchies and republics

So an Iberian Republic is the only Republic in the game that can keep an election cycle of 4 years? Why?

Edit: forgot there are also the Indian ones. But the problem still remains. Why only them? Why there isn’t a normal reform to keep 4 years election cycles?

No, Indian Republics have +5% Disc or +5% recovery army morale (one's a heck of a lot better than the other imo).
Power creep. But no one really seems to care.
