Hi everyone and welcome to the first development diary after Rights of Man. We have been extremely happy with the enormous popularity of this release, and aim to improve on this level of quality.

We did a survey of the community on Rights of Man, and the features you seemed to love the most was the ruler personalities, leader traits and the consort mechanic.

Here is a quick list of what some of the team’s personal #1 favorite feature is!
  • Johan - Disinherit Heir
  • LittleFido - Ruler Personalities
  • Starnan - Ruler Personalities
  • Trin Tragula - Ruler Personalities
  • BjornB - Consort Mechanics
  • Forzaa - Great Powers
  • Anona - Ruler Personalities
  • DDRJake - Ruler Personalities
  • MrNibbles - Ruler Personalities
  • Imse Vimse - Ruler Personalities

We are aware of the problems some people have with multiplayer and aim to release as soon as we have solved the problems. Meanwhile we are working on a 1.19 patch that we aim to have in public beta in the second week of November, with a final release before the end of the month.

So what is 1.19 then? Well… It’s a really meaty and big patch with new cool and free features. We’re adding some new options to the game, enhancing mechanics for different expansions, improving AI, changing zoc, tweaking game balance, and much more.

1.19 will obviously have a name, and a focus.. Try to guess the name from this new loading screen..

Great stuff! :) So, just to confirm, this means that there is not going to be any hotfix aimed at addressing the multiple combat AI issues being reported (especially allied behavior and a lot more noticeable during wars with relatively even sides), meaning we have to wait until 1.19 for said corrections?

Soooo... will the Denmark patch come with a Scandinavian content pack? I miss the days where the art team would churn out unit packs without a major accompanying DLC. Lots of countries still to cover, Denmark/Norway being two of them ;)

The Kalmar patch.

Edit: Ninja'd

Cheers for the DD Johan :D. Looking forward to playing Rights of Man (I'm almost never there on day one unless I plan my previous games to have finished at about the right time for the release), and I reckon the Great Powers'll be my favourite feature, although there's a bunch of good ones in there :D.

1.19 sounds tops, and enhancing existing mechanics and improving AI make me particularly happy (although looking forward to the other stuff as well) :). No idea about the name of it, but love the ships in the loading screen .

Looking forward to the Boaty McBoatface patch!

Got a question for Johan. When you say "changing zoc" have you already decided how? Because I think I have identified the fundamental game mechanic differences that separate EU4 from games where adjacent location rigid ZOCs can be made to work without being a complicated, non-intuitive, bug-attracting mess. I can write it up, with suggestions for alternatives to achieve the presumed goals of the present ZOC system, but if you've already decided what you're going to do, I won't bother.

Well topics which are fitting for Christian IV seem to be:
Reform mechanics
30 years of war mechanics
Kalmar republic mechanic
Something which is related to development or buildings

So my guess is: Some flavour events for Scandinavian countries, especially Denmark (mostly resolving around the Kalmar republic and some reforms) and besides of this mostly bug fixes/improvements of existing mechanics.

I hope this is when we will be able to transfer occupation from vassals back to ourselves as you mentioned in twitter recently? Or was I imagining that?
