Good day all. Today is our first development diary post-release of Cradle of Civilization. I'll be talking about our immediate plans going forward and what can be expected with regards to future plans, bugfixes and looking towards 1.24.

So Cradle of Civilization was released last week and we're very pleased to read your feedback on it. It's heartwarming to see our game still growing in popularity and our team has been taking on what we've read from you. It has also been great fun to see so many people playing in 1.23 enjoying the work we've put in the Middle East. Many players advancing forward as the Mamluks or taking a minor of their choice to form Persia from the disintegrating Timurid Empire has been a real pat on the back (I never imagined Mamluks could become such a popular pick in EU's lifetime)

With regard to what we are up to now and our future plans, we are working our way through bugs reported from the community with a view to releasing an opt-in patch to fix some of the more glaring issues in 1.23 / Cradle of Civilization. This patch will be available, if all goes to plan, within the week.

When the immediate glaring issues are stamped down on, we will continue working on other issues as well as some enhancements for the game which will come in the 1.24 update. 1.24 will be a free update to the game much like the Hungary and Denmark updates, containing bugfixes and perhaps a few added goodies.

As you may have noticed, we have been giving our update versions names for a while now. So far we've had Prussia, Denmark, Ming, Hungary, Russia and Persia. Where will we look to next?

Where oh where oh where.jpg

Where indeed?

What European countries do need is a rework of the parliaments, so there is more life to the country internally. A feature good enough could easily cover the French Parlements, Spanish Cortes, Polish-Lithuanian Sejm and English Parliament, when it wasn't really powerful. These were very different from what we have now as the parliament bribery thing, which isn't very interesting gameplay-wise honestly. Please, give us more to do in the times of peace and something worth playing into 1700's.

Clearly some Atlantis-type continent is being developed for the Pacific.

It would be interesting if they do an event for Spain to get the Phillipines. Unsure how I feel about it but Portugal gets Goa, why doesn’t Spain get the Phillipines.

or at least Spain gets Visayas in game...just make the condition like CAS or SPA has colonial nation in MEXICO, year is at least 1521 (can be age of reformation enabled) and any nation has circumnavigated the globe

Mikawa confirmed?

Good to see that PDX are coming back to Asia even after 1.20. In particular, the addition of extra Japanese provinces (if I'm not mistaken) might also mean the current post-1.20 AI Japan (i.e. omnipotent Ashikaga) could be fixed. But that might just be me hoping for something that will never happen.

Also, I'm glad that the Philippines are getting some love, seeing as they haven't been touched since 1.8!

In last DEV MP session, during a very long and costly war in India, Patna broke free due to rebels - that tag currently doesn't exist in the game, so a new revolter tag will be added in India - that suggests a work in progress for the area :)
Also, in the screenshot Jake provided in the OP there are countries with capital cities in northern Philippines + thats certainly new.

Patna was an estate revolter. So not a new tag.

Polish ideas are good as they are and there is no need for elite hussars, for the same reason why there is no reason for tercios - whole polish army at its best period was kind of elite and polish NIs are good in representing it. Elite units make sense in situations when one unit was really unique compared to the rest of the army - just like janissaries were. PLC was able to survive for so long only because of quality troops. I would like to see Sejm implentation tho, but there are regions that need attention more...
... just like SE Asia, Indonesia and especially India. You did really good job with CoC and I am really looking forward for more regional DLCs.
But hussars were unique and elite for sure, they weren't core of PLC cavalry, panzers were.(similar but poorer version with light-medium armor(cost of hussars equipment horses etc was about 50kilograms of silver, and their payment per year was about 2 kilograms so refund needed 25 years of service, nobles paid anyway because being hussar was prestigious, and was easier to get benefits when retiring, panzers were much cheaper ))
Most of hussars ever used were ~8250 (Battle of Khotyn 1621) of 18 000 all cavalry units.
In 1673(same place) there were 1670 hussars, 5828 dragons (most of them were foreign mercenaries, permanent mercenaries, i mentioned it in some threads )and 11 105 panzers, and something about 2 000 Walachia cavalry, and i can make much more examples. So as u see Hussars weren't "regular cavalry" but elite.

I am quite certain that Indonesia is part of the patch, but I hope that Indochina gets touched up just a little (Since the Focus is clearly the Philippines though and probably like some suggest a more maritime focused patch, perhaps making the archipelago an Inland Sea (Please!). However, for those thinking the Pacific is part of the patch, you can clearly see they didn't change any of the ocean tiles that are visible in the shot (If you compare them to the game itself) Yet.

EDIT: I looked again, and you can see they enlarged the Trench and added/moved the Visayan Sea further Southwest. But I am still skeptical the ocean will play any major part in this patch

For one, I really hope they didn't change anything in indochina. Free patches don't go too heavy on content and the region definitely could do with more than just provinces. I'd much rather an India/indochina dlc in the near future

It's about Korea, Japanese minors, Ryukyuu and Philipines, the secondary purpose being re-balancing Ming since the Mandate of Heaven, where some nations like Korea should be historical friend with Ming but also shouldn't be a infinite mana machine for Ming. I think it's obvious.

The fact that DDR-Ryukyuu-got-me-this-job-Jake is introducing the next patch focusing on Ryukyuu this fast makes me think that there's some Three Mountain backdoor exploit that only he knows about.

Please revisit the earlier dlc's you released. Flavour added with content packs such as Purple Phoenix, etc, were not working properly, last I checked.

There are still bugs like; ally not wanting the province of strategic interest in peace deal which had been reported numerous patches ago.

Mr. Johan mentioned something about moving estates to free base game content. It won't make you much money, but it'll earn you the communities respect. By doing so, maybe you could add new content to cossacks, such as new/better estates for Merchant Reps. Not that it was a bad dlc like Mare Nostrum anyways.

Sigh.. not holding my breath or anything.. but this could be a good time to take a step back and take a look at your final product and what all those dlc's have added to it.

As a final word, I would like to see the whole military/army mechanics revamped, but not before bug fixes.

Can't tell if you're joking ... What makes you think this patch is going to have anything to do with Ryukyu, Japan, or Korea? The biggest points of Free Patches usually means more provinces with a couple of new mechanics and nation tags, and if you look closely, Ryukyu, Korea, and Japan haven't changed. This post is kind of like a teaser trailer, where they showcase a small fraction of what will actually be done, In which they are showing a mere half of the Philippines, most likely meaning the patch goes south, not north. Also, just pay attention to how the new Philippines is crystal clear with the new provinces and tags, while the northern half of the picture is blurry.

The art of dev diaries interpretation arises :p

True. I can only guess that the patch will actually cover the Moluccas, Indonesia and Malaya, but it is fun to think what the post implies, past what is shown.

Well, some patterns are quite clear: it won't be a major overhaul, just regional with maybe some very small edits here and there.

We have the Denmark- and Hungary-patch as patterns.

Hello Dear @Trin Tragula
So, whether there will be a DLC for Southeast Asia Map Overhaul?
As a Chinese, I am fortunate for I could find any materials of Old Vietnam administrative divisions in Chinese, I have made a vietnam provinces overhaul based on division of Later Lê Dynasty, while balance is important, so I wonder how many provinces and devs should Vietnam should have, and then I could adjust my overhaul.

BTW: From EU3 DW, Dai Viet had been too wake to maintain its existance, when Ayutthaya and Malacca has highly overestimated devs and could dominate the SEA, the Dai Viet is often the first to get annexe , I hope the outdated unbalanced situation can be rebalanced.
