Have you altered the other ages to be triggered by institutions rather than a hard-date?

Also, have you looked into allowing ages to overlap, and if not, can ages overlap via modding?

I'm sad because this would be a great opportunity for Paradox explore some mechanics like slave revolts and anticolonial revolts. Haitean Revolution was the first Independence process which abolished slavery and the fear that it could be an example to all over American continent was very important to politics. I know it's a late game feature, but it should be thought over.

Not the focus of the upcoming patch, Asia and the age-mechanic on itself seem to be the focus instead of colonial events.
Your suggestion is a great flavor event, which there is a shortage of in much more nations than just colonial powers.

My question is, why should a certain country get a set bonus because of it's tag, and disregarding it's policies, ideas, rulers, culture, etc?
It's still an option you can choose. A flavored extra option for some major countries during that timeperiod, but still an option. You can just as well choose all the other ones instead of the special one designed for certain tags.

I don't get the hassle about the age mechanic, it seemed to work fine in the dev multiplayer session.

My question is, why should a certain country get a set bonus because of it's tag,
For the same reason that certain countries get wildly superior national ideas compared to others.

For flavor.

Otherwise each nation would just be a color with a name on it.
