Hello everyone. Today we’ll continue talking about subject interactions for Common Sense.

First of all. You can now always change the name and adjective of your colonial nation with a modify action on the subject screen.

Placate Local Ruler & Embargo Rivals, which we talked about last week, can of course also be done on protectorates and colonial nations.

Send Officers
This is a toggle that can be turned on/off on protectorates. When on, the overlord will pay an additional 33% of that nations land maintenance costs. However, their Liberty Desire is reduced by 10% as long as its on, and they get +20% Land Morale and +5% Discipline.

Divert Trade
This is another toggle on protectorates. While its on, you get 100% of their tradepower, but their Liberty Desire is increased by 30%.

Seize Territory
As you can’t integrate protectorates, but sometimes need some territory from them, you can now seize provinces from them. However, you need to have positive relation with them, and their liberty desire need to be below 50. The province you take have to be within coring range, and taking it will have severe impact on their desire to stay a protectorate.

Tariffs
Increase and Decrease Tariffs for Colonial Nations have been moved into this screen. Of course that is still accessible if you dont buy Common Sense.

Replace Governor
If a colonial nation is below 50% Liberty Desire, you can attempt to replace the governor up to once a year, but it will increase Liberty Desire slightly.

Start Colonial War
Now, you can always demand that your colonial nation (if at peace, and not having a truce), start a colonial war against someone they have a casus belli upon. Colonial Nations now also get casus bellis on all adjacent primitives.

Promote Investments
Trade companies have a toggle now, where you can increase the tradepower by 50%, for a small ticking increase of inflation.

Next week we’ll talk about new nations, new ideas and gameplay balance tweaks.

Here's a bonus screenshot of some possible Parliament issues for Great Britain..

I'm a bit disappointed with the options for dealing with your colonial vassals. I don't really see a way to mismanage them for short term benefits in the same way that the American revolution was brought about. It's still almost all about tariffs, technology, and relative power. The first isn't really useful, since tariffs tend to be an extremely small part of your income and if you push them too far they just stop paying you anyway. The second you can't do anything about. The third mostly factors into punishing you for either not having enough homeland to keep up with your colonies or for being in a weakened position.

Why can't we bleed our colonies dry? Why can't we be benevolent investors to our colonies? I just want the ability to be the best or the worst overlord by effectively managing, or mismanaging my colonies.

1) Make it a vassal
2) Give it a "Trade Company" government type

It's so simple that it's all the more frustrating that not only Paradox but, apparently, the entire modding community has failed to do that.

This seems like a good solution, perhaps we should have some integrate option on trade companies and even colonial nations then? The whole system needs a bit of a rethink tbh. Perhaps you should own provinces outright and then elect to add them to a more local government? To incentivise this make some massive maluses for provinces controlled along way away from your capital.

Amizing. I have a queston, don't now if it's been asked before. Can I enforce white peace on my own CN or in some way prevent them from starting a war I don't want them to start?

If you replace militarist governors they're a lot less likely to pick fights with other colonies.

Can you confirm if you can annex OPM protectorates, or slowly annex a protectorate fully every time you seize territory?

You can't seize their capital, but you can continuously take provinces if you wait for LD to tick down inbetween.

What if you don't wait? Can't I just bully them since they're just weak protecrorates and beat them up if they try to get independent?

It's noted in several places in the dev diaries for 1.12 that you can't make demands of a subject with more than 50% LD.

So a good way to annex protectorates is to continuously weaken them slowly, until they are small enough to be annexable without any major consequences? To do this though it would seem kind of gamey to have to release them first in order to declare war on them. What about an annexation option if the protectorate is very small already? or the chance to integrate them fully with the cost of military power based on their development?

Is there a connection between Monarch Points and personality? Like, the colony will only generate Militarists with 1/1/4 stats, or Diplomats with 1/4/1 stats?

Can't wait for this DLC to arrive already. Seems every time they announce a new DLC, I put off playing until it's released. HAHA

Why play now when the whole games just going to change/be better in a month? Sucks though, cause I want to play. LMAO :)
