Important Information

Hi everyone! Katten here, your friendly neighbourhood Community Manager. I want to share some important information about a potential issue you might encounter.

The expansion is now available for individual purchase at $24.99. However, if you’re interested in the instant unlocks, please note that these are not pre-order bonuses—they are exclusive to the Expansion Pass.

It’s also important to understand that the Expansion Pass on Steam is a package, not a dynamic bundle. This means that if you purchase the expansion separately and later decide to buy the Expansion Pass, you’ll end up paying for the expansion twice. This is due to Valve's requirements for selling Expansion Passes on Steam

If you’re still unsure about what the Expansion Pass includes, here’s a detailed breakdown:
  • Instant unlock of Three new 3d tank models and a music track
  • The Götterdämmerung expansion (Nov 14th 2024) - $24.99/£21.99/€24.99
  • The Graveyard of Empires country pack (Q1 2025) - $14.99/£12.79/€14.99
  • Prototype Vehicles unit pack (Q3 2025) - $6.99/£5.89/€6.99

I hope this clarifies things for you! Now, onto the fun stuff!

I knew you'd raise the price of the individual items to make the Pass seem like a good deal, when in reality, if the prices of the individual parts were like before, you'd pay less than the Season Pass.

Just started playing now! I will like this DLC alot but i am disappointed that they did not fix the Bismarck ship module ingame (the focus STILL give us the 1936 hull instead of the 1940). Paradox_Danne said he would look into this but have not. I feel let down.

Very cool update and DLC, I like the new German States

However, Why was the Grand Duchy of Baden merged with the Kingdom of Wurttemburg?

Especially after the State Baden was changed to better reflect the shape of the Grand Duchy

Grammar issues in multiple focus trees. Did you outsource this DLC?

Also, why does the focus tree require you to abandon the "4 year plan" in order to lower taxes? This is a-historical for a few reasons.

Under National Socialism and Fascism, there is no rigid, dogmatic adherence to specific economic systems, form of governance or social programmes. The misunderstanding that the lowering of taxes for the German people would require you to take the focus to abandon the 4 year plan is flawed. Germany was able to lower taxes for the German worker while maintaining the 4 year plan. It's annoying that the obsession of systematization applies to all aspects of these ideologies because there is frankly no inherent meaning to the doctrines of various economic thought. The Nazi government distanced itself from capitalist and socialist frameworks and instead pursued policies they believed would serve the pragmatic interests of the German state, military and society. It should be reflected in the decisions and focus tree. Ideological dogmatism held little influence in the regimes decisions because what mattered most was the benefit to Germany, through whatever means they deemed necessary.

It would have been interesting if, a decisive German victory would allow for a successor to be designated without necessitating the death of Adolf Hitler: In many speculations of Germany winning the Second World War, Hitler either succumbs to an illness or dies, even though this outcome isn't certain and only looks at the victory through the eyes of our timeline. There is no reason for Adolf Hitler to die or to succumb to illness in every final victory scenario. It feels overly deterministic and quite frankly simplistic. In reality, Hitler's health issues were largely attributable to his doctors misguided interventions and the strain resulting from catastrophic defeats in 1942 and 1943. (In a timeline where Germany achieves victory, these defeats would not occur. therefore reducing the levels of stress and health deterioration). Furthermore, the ability to appoint successors, whether or not Hitler remains alive would introduce a far more fluid and unpredictable Führer system.

Lastly, please add an SS-Ordenstaat governed by Himmler and his focus tree should include the potential to challenge the authority of the German Reich, through a sophisticated struggle for legitimacy. (Should occur if Hitler is not in power as Himmler would most likely never betray Hitler in a final victory scenario). This would create a far more interactive system than the mini-games PDX adds through the power system.

P.S It would be great to see a level of abstraction to the rulers, for example Adolf Hitler and Rudolf Hess ruling Germany.

Im impressed that the DLC has 190 (very positive) reviews already on steam ! Did a lot of players get access earlier or is this based on just a couple hours of play?

Loving the DLC so far but I had one issue with the reichkommisar for spain… Emilio Mola was dead by 1936… I was wondering if it were possible that y’all could change him out with either Ramon Serrano Suñer, Muñoz Grandes or Manuel Hedilla in a future patch?

I just played DLC for half hour and i can already say its best dlc since No Step Back
Some peoples say Germany is too strong but i think its fine, they got a lot of buffs but at the same time way more complex than before (over 300 focuses)
Special projects are fantastic doing late game more interesting and 3D models of major cities add more atmosphere while looking at each region of world

May be it makes sense to reword it somehow? Seems like the term "expansion" is used as a substitute for DLC yet within "expansion pass" context as well. May be simple bullet points depending on whether one payed for pre-order and/or for explansion pass will be better? I have not pre-ordered, I own no expansion pass -- can I buy DLC at all and if yes then how much will it cost region-agnostic?

Incredible! Really a lot of value for me as a customer IMHO!

This is great! If the devs are reading this, it seems that Belgium does not have the ability to create new bicycle battalions even though it has the "cyclistes frontière" divisions...I don't know if this is a bug or if is intentional, just letting you know as it seems a bit strange

Hello Guys,First things first normally i love your games and i m the first to preorder all dlcs and everything. I own all hoi4 dlcs except this all crusader kings 2 and 3 dlcs same with victoria eu4 and stellaris. I have to admit you make great games. And i really really like them. But this dlc is a bit over the Top. For the Background i m german and the way the german focus tree got changed leaves me speachless. This is supposed to be a Wargame about world war two not about the inner politcs of Germany. I see people like Rosenberg getting their own mechanic( a war criminal responsible for the deportation of millions of slave workers) and then himmler (the organisator of the holocaust) in the middle of the new focus tree with ceasary honours and a description that couldnt be more wrong. This is not about politics this is about humanity and the way these people are shown makes me sad. Same with Speer and Todt... and the new german conquest mechanic. Germany didnt repay the mefo bills with gold reserves of occupied countrys they did it with slave workers and stolen goods of jews. It makes me sad to see a game that is so much about history and does such a great job in researching that. Shows these war criminals so wrongly. I know there is a lot of work gone into this dlc and the new raids mechanik and the funny aircraftcarriers out of ice are great but the way some of the nazi leaders got a major role in the game now without the real historical context given makes me sad.
Thanks for reading

overall a great DLC but i am still disapointed that a lot of the things that were criticized in the DDs were not addressed.
the States of South Tyrol and the French Basque Country is still an absolute mass and it literally just needs some provinces to be moved
the Puppets states of Brest-Litovsk does not get german Monarchs like in ww1
a natural rhine border is still not possible and dont say it is too much work to do, you added Baden and could have done it with western rhineland aswell.
Adenauer still uses a Portrait where is way too old for 1936
the flag for Kingdom of Germany still shows the prussian eagle even tho it should show the german one
it makes no sense for democratic germany integrating all its faction members into germany BEFORE they form the EU. all of the countries maybe would agree to unite in a european realm but not into germany and only then to form the EU. they should be all changed to sth like European-France, etc and unite right away in something more european and less german only

I greatly appreciate the DLC and it delivers more than I hoped for because it’s not only a great update for germany that makes it more interesting to play it yet again, the special projects, even the silly ones (especially the silly ones for me) also provides more endgame content and makes it worthwhile to play one round longer than before regardless which nation you play.
For me as a constant player since the start of the game this dlc is a much needed incentive to sink some 100 hours more into the game.
My thanks to everyone involved in the creation of this content

I am shocked, but pleasantly surprised that those mods you mentioned have been made ready for day 1.

Great job. It really helps. (I hope one day this will be possible for the larger mods for Victoria 3 too, once we establish what the main mods are)

@PDXKatten

Were any changes implemented with regards to Germany's treatment of Yugoslavia? Germany has the option to allow Yugoslavia to sign the Tripartite Act or have different plans for it. Upon signing, Yugoslavia joins the Axis and a civil war kicks off. If your Yugoslavia wins then it stays intact.

I think Yugoslavia should have a coup after signing and then you can declare war on it with the options to create Croatia, grant the other Axis members their claims, and with the remaining Serbian part, either directly control it, have the Serbian Government of National Salvation be a puppet, or hand it off to Croatia.

Bulgaria should also be examined as they didn't really join the war while being in the Axis. Germany should get the Option to directly control Thrace or hand it to Italy if Bulgaria is given the choice to stay out of the fighting. There should be some event chain for this.

I would also slightly buff Italy in North Africa as they seem to fall quickly. Same for Finland in the Continuation war, maybe a defensive bonus).

The new German focus about building fortifications should spawn some static AA in the southern states as a way to deter or limit allied bombardment as during the Phoney War you didn't really have British and French bombers laying waste to Baden, Wurttemberg, and Bavaria as you do in the game currently.

thats true, there never was a thing like Baden-Württemberg before the 1950s. They should create two seperate tags, one for Baden, and one for Württemberg
