Hi everyone! The team is now going to head off to the yearly summer vacation for a month to try and catch some sun and recharge our batteries. When we get back we will check whats up and work on the 1.4.2 patch before sinking our teeth into the next expansion.

Hope everyone has a nice summer and see you again in august!

Apparently it is along with regular vacation. Most of western Europe and Scandinavia mandate regular vacation days by law or something. Still though the idea of more then 2 weeks vacation a year (including holidays) is alien to a lot of us Americans.

Wow that sucks! I feel sry for americans. In Germany in average jobs 6 weeks per year is normal.

It is not in every country in Europe and not in every company. I think it is very common in France, Italy and Sweden. It is more like you have to take your Holiday there because the Company is closing. I prefer choosing when i want to take my Holiday.

In France, most of the time you choose when you go into holiday. It is mandatory to have at least 5 weeks of paid leave, often it goes up to 7. However, children do not go to school during July and August, so most people use their free weeks during this period.

I suspect it to be the same in Sweden, we have seen dev clash being canceled because too many peoples were already in holidays.

The thing with Sweden is nobody wants to take 3 weeks off at a time when you only get 3 days' worth of actual daylight during those 3 weeks... that's why everyone is on vacation in July. Stockholm is at about 60 degrees of latitude north, after all.

Oh, fair enough, I didn't thought about that

They should take that time off & fly to Australia. Then in summer they would still get some daylight after work.

Someone has to work so that the world can be protected by Europeans, communists, or terrorists.

Oh, c'mon. I have about 200 hours of leave stored up, and I take at least 1 week each year, usually two, for a vacation along with numerous sick days for various things. I ain't hurting for off time. Plus I only work 7.5 hrs. a day.

And, I no longer work for a living. They pay me to play with computers, so there's that.

I am talking averages not individuals. Congratulations on your awesome job but a cursory internet search will retrieve multiple reputable sources that confirm the average person in the US has two weeks of paid vacation (80 hours/10 days). Sweden has 5 weeks mandated by law. Oh cmon indeed. That said this I somewhat more political then what this forum is for so..... time to wait a month or two for the next DD.

You would go to Iraq for your holidays ? Oo

Eh, I was thinking more along the lines of Germany, Japan, Korea, The Philippines, Puerto Rico, etc.

But to each their own.
