We are currently experiencing an issues with the launcher config on Microsoft Store on PC.We are working on getting this fixed as soon as possible, but if you are encountering this issue, you can do this as a workaround for now:
Delete the 'launcher-v2.sqlite' and 'launcher-v2_backup.sqlite' files in C:\Users\[NAME]\AppData\LocalLow\RomeroGames\EmpireOfSin
Once you have done this, you should be able to boot the game.


Together with The Hunt for Aurora, the base game of Empire of Sin has also gotten a few bug fixes.

  • 3 new armors: Police Issue Body Armor Model 2, Government Issue Body Armor Model 2, Military Issue Armor Model 2
  • Added ambidexterity feature to the game.
  • Boss Sai Wing Mock now has ambidexterity: handguns
  • Rachel Steinman now has ambidexterity: knives
  • Vincenzo Carro now has ambidexterity: handguns
  • Improved Sweep ability: Automatic weapons now have “Ammo Per Sweep“ attribute which allows to use Sweep effectively and some weapons with large magazines no longer use all ammo per Sweep. For instance, Tommy Gun with its large 50-rounds magazine now can perform 2 Sweeps, firing 25 bullets per Sweep.

  • Reorganized tabs of the character sheet in order to have more convenient access on consoles

  • Added auto-healing logic after battle (characters now are healed automatically after battle when there is a doctor in the squad)
  • Taxi button is now available at wider range of zoom
  • Added “Auto-resolve battle” button to the Racket’s quick menu, now it’s possible to perform auto-resolve from the map view.

Balance:
  • Rebalanced Upfront Cost of mid- and high-tier gangsters
  • Rebalanced Notoriety requirements of mid- and high-tier gangsters
Rebalanced difficulties:
Enemies now deal more damage on mid to high difficulties

  • Rebalanced armor used by guards. Now guards use better armor.
  • Decreased brewery storages upgrade cost
  • Increased Ransack time from 25 to 30 days

Rebalanced loot drop, item prices and markets restock:
  • Black market resupply frequency changed: 60 -> 55
  • Black market is providing better quality items over time
  • Black market and Police maximum count of restock items changed: 12 -> 13

  • Allowed to use Kunai knife as a melee weapon and added it to loot drop and stores
  • Decreased Remedy effect duration: 2 -> 3 rounds
  • Increased Smelling salts effect duration: 2 -> 3 rounds
  • Increased Nerve Tonic effect duration: 2 -> 3 rounds
  • Increased Liniment Tonic effect duration: 2 -> 3 rounds
  • Increased Wizard Oil effect duration: 3 -> 4 rounds

Configured some weapons with ammo per sweep value for using not all ammo.
  • Rebalanced drop, weapon and armor prices, improved store and made the black market to show better items over time.
  • Added ambidexterity to some characters.
  • Updated mission rewards.
  • Added stronger armor to NPC by their tiers.
  • Other balance changes in abilities, characters, weapons, building upgrades, difficulty and other parts.

Bug fixes:
  • Fixed workers AI logic in loan sharks
  • Fixed NPC behaviors in rackets
  • Fixed Persuader’s Sweep action hang-alive
  • Fixed a bug in the "Sweep" scenario when the timings for launching animations and sounds could be calculated incorrectly, which caused the entire scenario to be out of sync.
  • Fixed various calculations for auto-resolving combat
  • Fixed a bug with icons visibility for hidden safehouses of other bosses
  • Fixed bugs in displaying battle events on the loot screen (who took damage, who was injured, who died, and other events):
    • Bug where we could see an empty list of events (but they have happened and should be there).
    • Bug where we could not see damage information for characters that are bleeding out.
  • Fixed “agree” animation in cinematics (in some cases it was playing with a long delay).
  • Fixed a bug when enemies could prioritize “overwatch” too often
  • Fixed a bug when it was possible to assign “windows” key to an action
  • Fixed a bug when the player could fail to skip the tutorial using a controller.
  • Fixed a bug when in The Dime A Dozen mission focus shifted to another mission after combat with BOI officers.
  • Fixed a bug when the player was unable to complete the side mission 'The Gift And The Grain' as the player was unable to interact with the NPC Henry.
  • Fixed a bug when debug text could be observed in the dialogue text of the character 'Boris Petrov' when talking to him after completing the 'Follow The Money' mission.
  • Fixed a bug when Mama's Here mission did not progress after talking with Lorenzo.
  • Fixed a bug in the tutorial when after sitdown with Ronnie the player could start the battle alone.
  • Fixed a crash with Ada Santos Souza using Medic's kit
  • Fixed a crash with George Moran using sweep ability
  • Fixed a softlock when Ragen's Batter Up and Overwatch triggered at the same time
  • Fixed a bug when the main mission 'Making A Killing' failed to progress as the character 'Thompson' couldn't have dialogues with the player character 'Salazar Reyna'.
  • Fixed a bug when Daniel McKee Jackson couldn’t trigger a conversation with Eva after drugging Bill in mission Pineapple Primary.
  • Fixed a bug when the progression was blocked in the mission ‘Pineapple Primary’.
  • Fixed a bug when the mission 'Follow The Money' failed to progress for the boss 'Angelo Genna' after the objective 'Talk to Hoffman to start the game'.
  • Fixed a bug with a game blocking when we are killing someone by KILL dialog option but do not have any gun in the inventory.
  • Fixed a game block after using suppress fire ability.
  • Added and fixed some character animations with weapons (SMGs, Luger and some other)
  • Fixed a bug where a boss can be not present at his safehouse.
  • Fixed bugs related with invalidation of buildings (for example: taking over buildings by other factions, destroying and other events)
  • Fixed bugs related to building blockers (when we do not have ability to exit/enter building, but we can do it when we are in a map mode)
  • Fixed bugs and improved attack system (game logic and animations) for better working with dual wielding, burst, sweep and other.
  • Fixed corrupting in late-game manual and auto-saves.
  • Fixed crashes when clicking disabled action bar icons.
  • Several fixes in localization
  • Several minor bug fixes

Totally agree with Blaeys, I too would love to see this game get continued... but seeing as they had to go so far as to outsource devs to finish what Romero couldn't, I doubt the game will be getting much more than a few bug fixes in the next weeks ...

Perhaps most of the work is the admin and legal required to bring a new developer online, sign over all the code, and all that, and now they're working on it, new stuff might be easier?

I wanted to inform you that I encountered a bug for the boss Maxim Zelnick. After entering combat with him the game doesn’t allow you to make any selections in the combat menu.

-Only Has Five options to use “attack” , “Double Fire” , “Reload” , “Melee” and “Ability”( It Literally says ability as the title and the icon is a circle with a dot in the middle in parentheses)
-Upon highlighting and pressing X to confirm any of these options the game deselects whatever ever you chose
-The only way to use the “attack” ability is to select an enemy directly with the cursor and press X(Using this method doesn’t allow you to use any other combat options)

These issues aren’t present when I chose other bosses for example Daniel McKee Jackson is fully functional. These bugs affected both old saves and new games.

Again thank you for your work! Just wanted to bring attention to some bugs that are now present after the update.

Empire of Sin dumped the problematic developers and Paradox came through with a new DLC for Empire of Sin?

Well frigging done, Sweden!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was a tester on the previous version of this game and know a good deal of the history of American Organized Crime. If I can be of any assistance along the way, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm pulling out my credit card to buy the DLC right now.

My compliments on the new aesthetics with Robin Kray and Sylvia. Nice looking couple to follow around for a few hours of causing trouble.

Question, how does ambidexterity work in regard to scaling weapons in each hand?
 
Bugs from Xbox and sorry on any repetition:

Loan shark room textures don't load.

Combat bar bugs out (tends to happen with the Fixer class) where it half is inaccessible and shows part of the previous gang member's combat bar.

Caltrops and bear traps don't work.

"Hair Trigger" often locks the game.

You can hit "Infinity" alcohol after loading a save.

Shotguns for opponents function at long and very long range with high accuracy.

In "Search for the Frenchman" the initial quest to speak to Nixon, Nixon can sometimes load in the gray inaccessible space between neighborhoods.

My dog fell in love with another gang member. I've not played further to see if the dialog will refer to him being worried about his lover being injured in combat or not, but fingers crossed for the laughs.

In regards to the ambidexterity feature, it's pretty busted. I got a Vanguard with ambidexterity and the 5th level melee trait (gain damage over tiles travelled), and with some equipment that increases his movement, he can do up to 130 damage per knife (260 per combo!) and inflict two bleed status effects (another 40)
Comes out to 300 damage... yeah

Comes out to 300 damage... yeah
In the recent patch (which is in a beta branch on steam and is coming to consoles soon), we've added a fix to the trait, now it affects only 1 weapon. However, the melee with ambidexterity still deals a lot of damage, but you also risk your gangster (if you play on boss difficulty), because enemies now deal a lot of damage and using melee too often may end with a situation where your gangster is in the middle of an enemy group and will be dead immediately after the melee raid. (and then another gangster who will try to revive them may be dead as well for the same reason.
