Operation Brainstorm | Prototype Vehicles Available Now!

Generals!

Welcome to Operation Brainstorm - File .: 1.16.6 :.

This is the release of the final part of Expansion Pass 1: Prototype Vehicles. All of these models were either blueprints or early prototypes that were created or designed during the war, but ended up never getting used, or even manufactured. Also, they’re all entirely optional to use. Everything in this Unit Pack is intended to add some flavor and doesn’t affect gameplay.

To facilitate and accompany this release we have included a smaller War Effort patch, tweaking some balance, as well as fixing a bunch of issues.

I hope you enjoy this release! Our current plan is to be back in just a few weeks to give all of you more insight into what we are, and have been, up to.

- @PDX_Gorion

Yes
Could you implement a tick box in the production screen to automatically update outdated models? They tend to get outdated often as you improve your MIO, especially the infantry equipment and you have to manually change it several times.

I'm not sure I understand the question; I think these changes would render that unnecessary.

There is a checkbox in the MIO screen which will apply to all equipment that MIO is applied to. It will automate that process if you use the trait queue. Otherwise, the checkbox in the message you get when you select a trait will update all the in-production equipment without intervention.

I meant replacing the production line entirely with the new version once the update has been made. Unless that can already be done?
That is how it works, yes.

Zwirbaum replies:
Um... what? Is this saying that you made it a 10% cost reduction from 5% then reduced it to a 7.5% in one patch or are these two different modules?

Actual value is 7.5%. Initially it was meant to be 10% but we tweaked that to 7.5%, but by omission we left it in the Patch Notes.

Making SPGs better and reducing clicks on MIOs

Very good

Question though: Will the MIO changes apply to ships in production? As applying them now will restart the entire ship, so that would make upgrading naval MIOs still problematic

While i already have the pre order bonus song, it is a good thing to allow it to purchase for the ones who missed it.

I hope you could do the same for your others games (EUIV, CK3, VC3, etc...).

Accidental double patch notes. The final change from -5% to -7.5% would be enough. Also why? I already always picked Easy Maintence as it is was quite powerful as it currently is. Why buffing it further?

All of this should’ve just been folded into the GtD DLC’s special projects, or they should’ve ditched the fantastical flying tanks altogether.
Once again, no changes, no response to feedback, no acknowledgment of development concerns. I'm guessing the plan is to Post-Through-It until you can announce the Japan DLC and hope we forget again, and repeat.

Separately, the value proposition is completely absurd. It’s $40 Canadian just for the unit packs, on top of buying the DLCs for the countries they apply to, separately. 3 being a half decade old. What 'development' does this even pay for? Barebones war efforts?

Broken record, I know.

All I want to know is if we should expect another "war effort" patch in the next month (or round of patches on a monthly basis) or so, so that I can start a new run or if you are done with those until later in the year.

Can the AI utilize this? I've never seen an AI upgrade its equipment with new MIO traits. They just assign it once and leave it be.

In case the equipment is produced for very long time (like Infantry weapons, or trucks) the AI misses tons of bonuses.

Amazing! As a dedicated MIO-hater, thank you! This will reduce the bother of MIOs a lot.

Two more minor changes I would love to see to MIOs:
1. The ability to auto-assign an MIO to research lines according to a simple algorithm, e.g. best research bonus -> largest size -> alphabetical/random. Even adding one extra click (versus hitting enter) to what was a 1-2 click process is a significant increase, and the decision isn't something I (or I think most players) really think about 99% of the time.
2. Showing the icon for e.g. the largest MIO, or maybe the latest to level up, in the slot on the government screen where the designer icon used to go and the MIO button is now. HOI4's 2D art is great and I love seeing the government screen fill up as I hire more advisors, etc. so getting more of that back would be very nice.
