Today, we bring news regarding the future of Star Trek: Infinite, a journey we've embarked on together with a lot of excitement.

Sadly, we must inform you that Star Trek: Infinite will not receive further updates.

Together, we've explored distant worlds, faced formidable adversaries, and created a community bound by a shared love for the Star Trek universe.

We want to extend our gratitude to those who have been the backbone of this journey. To the incredible team at Nimble Giant whose dedication and creativity made Star Trek: Infinite a reality. Working alongside such a talented group has been a privilege.

Equally, our partners at Paramount deserve a world of thanks. Your support and insights have been an invaluable resource, enriching our development process and enabling us to craft the game that stands before our community today. Your commitment to this project has helped us navigate the vastness of the Star Trek universe with authenticity and passion.

Lastly, we cannot express enough gratitude for you, our community, for your support, enthusiasm, and dedication. Your engagement, feedback, and passion have been the driving force behind this adventure. You've built more than just a player base; you've forged a community of explorers united under the banner of Star Trek.

Though our journey in updating Star Trek: Infinite concludes here, the universe we've created together remains. The legacy of Star Trek: Infinite will live on through you, the community, and the adventures you continue to share.

Thank you for being a part of this incredible voyage, live long and prosper.

Sorry to hear it has come to this, this project had so much potential to be expanded on to grow into a game for the ages
It's sad this game and your team couldn't get the support of the community or PDX to give this game a fair shot.

So thats it.
I can't be mad at the devs because they were excited for the future of it.
Those in charge, I genuinely despise.
I'm pretty much done with Paradox, they screwed up Cities Skylines 2, now they drop the ball on this game which is insane (the amount of money you could get with dlc is insane and yall let it slide).

I hope the modders keep the game alive and manage to make other playable teams for us.
I'm sorry for the Devs that really wanted to continue this project, sorry you got screwed over by paradox.

With this IP the potential for bringing it along with DLC was huge, it's a pity it got abandoned so quickly.

Wow, I'm really glad I never actually paid for this game, though I did play it for a while. Sorry for those who did invest actual money. What a horrible way to treat a major IP like Star Trek.

So, how long until Microsoft buys and fixes Paradox?

Unsurprising. I imagine the game selling well was the hope to keep it alive, and it sold badly, and reviewed badly, and Paradox decided to cut their losses.

Add to that the turmoil of the Embracer Group (which is selling stuff *back to* Take Two Entertainment now)... yeah. Regretfully predictable.
Sad.

I must say I'm not surprised at all, but I can't help but question why this was made in the first place as a glorified Stellaris mod. There is certainly a (rather niche) market for a new Star Trek strategy game like Birth of the Federation, but this was not the way to go about it.

Here, though? A goodbye written in annoying marketing-speak, trying to pretend waiting for any communication from the devs was a captivating journey?
Not to be conspiratorial, but the text comes back as 100% AI generated on ZeroGPT, QuillBot, GPTZero, and Scribbr, lol.

It's also pretty formulaic, it might be GPT generated, it might be just someone going through the motions.
That is certainly a possibility (and the likely answer) but as a semi-frequent user of llm chatbots, it immediately made me skeptical after reading it.

I'm very sad after reading the announcement, but in the end it was expected. Star Trek Infinite had any advertising to begin with, and it also sold really bad.
As it had Stellaris as foundations to build up, and with a Star Trek license, I thought it could be a success despite these odds.
It really feels like a missed opportunity.

I was actually baffled on the lack of advertising and promoting they did.

It's because no-one knows how to make one that's any good that adheres to what Star Trek is about. At least in current year. Add in the extreme costs of making games now, and it's harder than ever to make a good Trek game.
and that s truly tragic

As they managed to fumble even that "remake" of the Bridge Commander (imho, one of best ST games ever made), by removing the compelling story, characters, and even the setting.

Funelling millions for what... something no one is even remembering, few years after the game was released...

But ideal ST game would be Mass Effect type game, an RPG with heavy reliance on diplomacy and creative solutions, but also optional combat

Funnily, Bioware actually considered ST game, but could not get the license, and went with original IP instead

This does not surprise me.

I bought the game, was immediately underwhelmed and refunded it. I'd planned to revisit it a year later to see if it was worth the investment.

Paradox is certainly not what it used to be.

I'll watch CS2 with baited breathe...

Sorry to say this, but even as a Star Trek fan I never saw any reason nor had any wish to buy this as a standalone game. I would been more motivated to buy it if it had been a "scenario pack" type DLC for Stellaris, but having two so similar space-based games, with the biggest difference between them just being that one has an IP (even a really good IP full of potential) just didn't seem very good or necessary to me.

I bought this game on release day, in fact my first Paradox game, and I was waiting to play it again and learning more about these grand strategy games, and I log in today to see...it is over. Beyond disappointed as this had promise. Just gonna play chess for a while now.
