Hello and welcome to another Stellaris development diary! Today we will take a look at some of the minor features and changes in the coming 2.0 'Cherryh' update.

Quality of Life
We have added small icons to the outliner that lets you see if planets have buildings that can be upgraded, or if there are Pops that do not have a building they are working. Similarly, you will be able to see when a starbase has an empty module or building slot.

This should make it a lot easier for you to manage your planets and starbases.

In the fleet view it is now also possible to see which designs can be upgraded.

Hallowed Planets
Spiritualist empires will be able to designate an uncolonized Gaia World within their borders as a 'Holy World'. The Holy World will increase your empire's unity production as long as it remains uncolonized and within your borders.

In addition to being able to make uncolonized Gaia Worlds useful, Hallowed Planets will also make spiritualist factions happy.

War Doctrines
In addition to other changes to traditions, finishing the Supremacy traditions now allows you to set a War Doctrine for your empire. War Doctrines give you additional customization and specialization regarding how you utilize your fleets.

There are four different war doctrines with different strengths and weaknesses:
Defense in Depth: Defensive empires will have a bonus to their ship fire rate within their own borders
Hit and Run: This doctrine will increase the likelyhood of your ships making an emergency FTL in combat, and also reduce damage caused by emergency FTL
Rapid Deployment: Empires that choose to rely on quickly being able to respond to threats may choose this doctrine which increases sublight speed and ship weapon range
No retreat: Militarists and Gestalt Consciousness empires can choose to employ a doctrine of no retreat, increasing ship fire rate but removing the ability for individual ships to emergency FTL out of combat instead of being destroyed.

Psionic Awakening (Utopia)
Should you be playing a Psionic empire, introduced with Utopia, it will now be possible to help lesser species awaken their psionic potential. This works similar to Assimilation, where you can give another species the benefits of your chosen ascension path.

That's all for this week! Next week you will be able to read the full patch notes for the 2.0 'Cherryh' update!

And so? Following your logic:
- every empire will research and explore, discovery is a must
- every empire will expand, expansion is a must
- every empire would like to have more $$$, prosperity is a must
- (fill the rest of the list)

It's great that you have different interesting choices. Discovery first starts to be quite dull, after all.

but that's not how this one works... its a must as your first or one of your first. an empire is not crippled by putting off expansion discovery or prosperity. your empire will be crippled if you put off prosperity.

supremacy gives you direct bonuses to fleet combat power and system fortification as well as indirect bonuses to research and economy.

Please describe what will happen to my empire, if I delay supremacy.

I've happy about Psionic awakening as it took forever for other races in my empire to become Psionic.

I'm still saddened that we're losing army attachments. :(

Yeah, I liked the army attachments for flavor and bonuses. What I wish the developers would do is make the attachments stay, but become something big and expensive you can add to *all* troops produced by a particular building or military fortification. That would get rid of the micro-managing of adding them one at a time, but keep the flavor.

wouldn't need to make them expensive just add an increased cost for building armies at that location

Random question that was asked a few times last week and as far as I know we never got an answer to (apologies if we did and I just missed it).
Is there going to be new planet interaction screen art for either Tomb or Tundra worlds so they don't share?

something that i have been wanting to say for a while regarding the penalties to bigger ship fleets: giving the smaller fleet attack speed when in combat doesn't make much sense and doesn't feel right; it is difficult to predict because the penalties are based upon engagement in combat, and it also doesn't make much thematical sense;
wouldn't it be better to give the bigger fleets penalties towards sublight speed ? this could be a static debuff besides applying a relative buff to evasiveness depending on the relative fleet power. this would leave one hole: rockets would bypass this debuff, this would turn rockets into a more snowball heavy weapon, but could be balanced by making rockets uncapable tracking infinitely but it is also possible to balance rockets around this phenomenon turning one of the key-strengths of using rocket based weaponry into finishing off smaller fleets.

but besides, everything looks great so far, im curious to try it out.

Odd question:

Currently, the spiritualist faction gains happiness from colonizing a Gaia World, and loses happiness from colonizing tomb worlds.

If we can now designate Holy Worlds ourselves, are Spiritualists losing the Peopling Paradise boost from colonizing/owning Gaia worlds? Or can I have both owned Gaia worlds and designate a holy world(s) for a further boost to happiness and unity?

Is there a concern that attaching War Doctrines to Supremacy will lock people into taking this tradition path? Doctrines have seemed like a major new feature for defining and building your empire. At least, personally, I'm going to want them to feature prominently in how I plan and build the military strategy of pretty much every game I play going forward. Offhand, putting them behind the tradition seems like it will both delay their entry to the game considerably and also funnel players toward taking that path in pretty much every game.

Ooc, is there a reason they were made tradition-linked instead of just generally available?

you can colonize a gaia world and designate another gaia world as holy but you can't do both to the same one

I'm curious if there is a Tradition tree for the defensive side of things. Supremacy seems for offense. (I could've have missed something as I'm still slowly waking up)

Edit: Nevermind. Wiz demonstrates a defensive side of Supremacy on Twitter.

supremacy is now needed for both defense and offence. one of the first few pages wiz mentioned how it was now worth it for pacifists not just militarists

Thanks. Ha. Slowly catching up on everything. I am not a supercomputer before I've finished my caffeine intake in the morning.
