Here come A...gressive probes!
BTW Is there a way to degrade space-fairing civilization to pre-space-fairing one?
You mean litterally (litterally litteraly) bombing someone back to the stone age?

An Observation Post in Passive Observation mode acts essentially as a more powerful Research Station, providing you with Society resources. There are various events that can trigger for them, of course.

If the primitives become a spacefaring empire, the station will be dismantled.
Wouldn't it be cool if it could serve as the basis for a space station for that planet?

So, so awesome. I have abducted a number of platypuses. Finish and release Stellaris in the next five days and none of them will get hurt.

Very much yes. I want the primitives to form XCOM to resist my invasion.
I was thinking more torchwood or UNIT but sure xcom works too.

This sounds amazing, thank for this DD. Do the pre-space era aliens we encounter have traits? Can a Xenophilia society doom themselves by uplifting a Xenophobic species? Also, is it possible for one race to be Passively Observing only to discover another race is trying to uplift them?

So if you as the fuzzy, lovely, wholesome bear people of the Grizzly Confluence decide to passively observe a primitive planet, and then the ultra aggressive fungal people of the Cep Hegemony show up intent on invading the planet your observing, do you get a CB to push there teeth equivalents down their throat equivalents in defence of the primitives?

If not why not? Also are CBs in :)?

The observation post screenshot looks wonky to me, and I think it's because the OP is lit completely differently than the planet.

Both the planet and the OP look fine on their own, but together the different lighting clashes.

Hopefully that sort of detail ismon the to do list. :)

Also far too big, i imagined listening orbital posts to be more like a probe rather than Spaceport sized (unless that planet is really small) I know that the devs wants to make everything big but there should be a minimum sense of scale.

That screenshot is deliberately zoomed in and angled to make the Observation Post appear large in the foreground, with the planet in the background. They are actually smaller than a Spaceport.

Not a hard choice for me, abductions for Molluscoids and infiltration for Reptilians. Anyway I suppose aggressive observation could raise unwanted awareness among primitives, while it looks like that first 'official' meeting before annexation should be a surprise for them.
The Mammaliansss are among ussss. Can we get an event in which the primitives start making conspiracy theories about Aliens if they are infiltrating/Aggressively observing.:p

I have a question: if a spiritual spacefaring empire met a civilization in it's bronze age would they be able to convince primitives that they are deities?

And by "stray", could that mean rocket-propelled rocks the size of Manhattan? I don't want lesser beings in my galaxy. They. Will. Be. Purged.

Ah yes "Stray Asteroid" hehe

,,,Please tell me you can fling asteroids at planets?

I don't understand why you would want to kill them, they fullfill a better purpose as... productive members of our great society.

UNIT is just an XCOM wherein people inexplicably believed that the British would be the best choice for running things instead of their natural American superiors with a marginal percentage of the funding.

Torchwood could work too though.
