Stellaris Dev Diary ∛338: Rick the Cube

Hello Stellaris Cube-munity!

I know today wasn't in the dev diary cube-endar we posted earlier, but I felt like today was a special day.

In the finest of traditions of Stellaris cubeture, we are happy to introduce a new character portrait: Rick the Cube!

Rick the Cube will be available Soon™ for purchasers of an unannounced future Stellaris DLC bundle (and also subscribers). We will be revealing more about this DLC bundle in the near future!

For those of you who find the Stellaris portraits too anthropomorphized, we hope you will enjoy this new addition to the Stellaris portraits lineup! Encased in rune-covered cube armor, a sort of fully surrounding jacket made of metal, Cube Rick will be an excellent companion to take on a space odyssey.

Well Devs, you've already done quite a bit of work to design, draw, and animate Rick. Why not finish it off? You're halfway there already! I'd genuinely like to see Rick (maybe change the name) as a Paragon or something else. Get the box in the game! It's honestly really good and I'd like it to be more than a mere April Fools gag.

This has got to be added.
I always thought that it needs something more "different" and this is exactly what I'd love.

It has something beautiful but mysteries about it. It looks like knowledge and power. Where are they from, who created them? What's the story/lore behind them. Ahhh my mind is already racing. Are they some geometrically created entity by a higher power or race.

Or are they just like independent nano-robot entities that evolved somehow ..


P.S. The cube design in the banner with the void in the middle, where it looks like a portal or it's pulling in stuff, is also a great design and would look really dope animated and in game

Wdym its April fool's joke, we need it. It absolutely needs to be in-game in some form. Maybe a unique, neutral space traveling entity with some mysterious events?

Can we have a “Silly” species category that includes the cube, c6 and the promised unicorn portrait? (I don’t consider the promise of a unicorn portrait full filled with that Lithoid portrait. We need a proper unicorn! )

Unicorns have to be their own species packs.
And cubes... Yeah, why all life have to be so antropomorphic... Living cubes and spheres are great

Brilliant reverse psychology. Making us think it was an April fool’s joke while the real joke is that it isn’t a joke. Sneaky.

Also, that fact that Rick is real makes me very happy. I will now have the Cubists as a spic
