Metal rusts. Flesh adapts.

Overhauled Genetic Ascension

Choose from three Ascension paths (Cloning, Purity, and Mutation) and over 18 enhanced Authorities. Customize your genetic ascension by blending Purity, Cloning, and Mutation traditions into a unique path for your play style.

Hives with a Twist

Encounter a Hive Fallen Empire, a fractured hive mind struggling to awake between its three splintered personalities.

Six New Civics
  • Genetic Identification, Crowdsourcing, Familiar Face, Aerospace Adaptation, Shared Genetics, Civil Education
Deep Space Citadel Megastructure

A versatile new defensive station capable of holding off powerful enemy fleets at any system.

Everyone yelling meat ships but the turtle in me wants to hear more about those citadels.

Looks like another good year for Stellaris though, *insert shut up and take my money meme*

Gaming as a whole has turned me away from pre-orders.
CK3 and Vic3 have helped enshrine in me a particular dislike for DLC-passes (i.e. Chapter) pre-orders.
Yet, AoW4 and Stellaris have made a hypocrite of me. This is a sweet roadmap, I actually would want everything in it.

I usually never pre-order and based off of some of the problems with season 08 I'm still wary. What tips the scales for me in the direction of buying is the devs. I've never played any game where the devs are so active with the community. Even among paradox games Stellaris is leagues ahead on dev diary cadance by itself, let alone all the devs posting in threads, the subreddit, discord, doing streams etc.

I hope not, currently all crisis is something you empire starts and achieves on their own. Making the psionic crisis rely on the end of the cycle i feel would kind of break that. but i could be wrong.
nemesis is outside corruption that poisons your government and feeds them bad ideas
that isn't much better than actively entering a pact with a god

also during the nemesis crisis you currently have increased odds of getting the end of the cycle, so the devs figured it's a fitting antagonist for aspirants

Hmm fair, it did strike me as odd that something clearly psionic seems to influence your empire out fo the blue despite the entire shroud crapping itself with what you do. From what i read though its not the crisis aspirant that has increased chances of getting the cycle but rather if a crisis aspirant levle 4 is about in the galaxy, psionic empires have increased chance of encountering it. (Which could make sense as its taking advantage of the desperation to strike a deal)

A lot of the shroud is ripped from 40k. While I haven't read the last books of the Horus Heresy series from what I understand the Chaos gods were perfectly happy to engineer a situation where a new god rises that would destroy the galaxy. Since they exist outside of time and not tied to any particular galaxy, or even universe, it doesn't matter to them.

Same could be the answer for the become the crisis. I don't remember who but a dev has said that their interpretation is that the engine doesn't work properly. All it does is smeer the debris of the ascending species across the shroud and blow up a galaxy in the interim.

Which is one of the reasons I'd like Galactic Nemesis to get a rework. Make it more about the shroud and take out the scrappy ship stuff. Have there be a clear link of menace along the lines of your species observing the effect of death, and then gigadeath, on the shroud. Then by studying the ripples it causes and the thinning of the veil they develop a means to engineer a galactic sacrifice big enough to punch a hole into it.

I have never committed genocide. On the contrary, I often play as pacifists and rarely go to war, largely because it's boring and because war is not profitable. I play on the second-highest difficulty and don’t fight for about 80 to 100 years. That’s exactly why I keep saying that diplomacy is literally nonexistent. I WANT to engage in diplomacy, but there’s simply nothing there. I’ve made separate builds focused on diplomacy and the Galactic Council, and what’s currently in the game is just boring garbage.
An easy, albeit partial, solution is to make a mod that decreases the define values for the Galactic Community's voting and recess periods. I always play with those values cut in half and by mid-game either the Galactic Community cycles through and rejects most Tier 3 resolutions, or I have enough diplomatic weight to pass resolutions more or less unilaterally.
