I understand the reason for making non hives died in hives, but perhaps make it so that hives don't die in nom hives? It could make for amazing events to test your morale and ethics! Imagine suddenly there's these lost souls incapable of doing anything, and your xenophile nation is desperately trying to help them but can't do anything! You want to help them but hey remain a useless pop that is incapable of doing anytbing, how will you take care of it!

@Wiz

I am kind of disappointed that you can not integrate non-Hive Mind pop into a Hive Mind Civilization.

To cite my favorite example of a sci-fi Hive Mind, MorningLightMountain from Peter Hamilton's Commonwealth. They are communicating to their pop by touching together tentacle and passing on instructions by electrical pulses. So they are not even remotely Psi capable.

To deal with long-distance communication issues. They come up with power line and radio and among other means to pass along mind state to allow them to get to the industrial/nuclear/space development stage.

This would allow a non-Hive Mind to "implant" themselves to become part of the Hive Mind with their own Ethics and all drawbacks.

The best part is this will allow Hive Mind to "deal" with internal policies if they want to integrate non-Hive Mind Pop into their empire outside of "subject" relationship.

As Fanatical Purifiers liking other same-species Fanatical Purifiers was mentioned, does that mean that we could design several preset empires with the same phenotype and species name, make two of them Fanatical Purifiers (or one, and liberate planets from another so that they pick up the Fanatical Purifier ways), and have them like one another, or would they see one another as aliens in need of purging?
Yea they'll like each other, which is why wiz said a player would have to do it on purpose. That would be epic though, placing two of them to become allies and your end game boss

It's trading a permanent bonus for a starting bonus. Considering how much advantage a good early start confers, I don't think it's unbalanced at all.

Though with gene-modding capabilities later on, those subservient proles can become a potent asset.

How would the subservient species work in the Caste System mechanic? Will the primary race automatically have full citizenship and the proles automatically be enslaved?

This is meant to be one of the key differences and primary drawbacks of being a Hive Mind, so it's going to stay, sorry. You can of course mod it away.
So, do we get diplomatic maluses from purging them? We can't just choose to change our purge policy to displacement, that would still give some opinion maluses right?

On another note, will our one immortal hive mind ruler still have ruler traits?

They get Agendas, yeah.
Wheeee!

I mean I'm going to miss oversized ships as much as the next megalomaniac, but I'm happy that this will keep long lived or immortal despots relevant in the long term <3

There are so many things that can happen in sci fi, it's hard to account for all of them and model in the game. I'm happy that more things are getting added as time goes on, but it's literally impossible for the core game to have every single possible sci fi event ever. That's up to mods.

What about different types of processing non-HM pops? Like some HMs may turn those pops into food, while others may process them into energy or research (imagine absorbing their memories and knowledge).

Edit: Also, can Fanatical Purifiers trade with Enclaves (considering them useful xenos to be purged last), or is that prohibited?

So long as they have the same portrait and name, they would see each other as the same species.

How about some small bonus to further them on their chosen paths. Syncretic Evolution could give +10% to gene modding techs and Machinist could give +10% to robotics techs as well as *2 chance of rolling those techs.

Great! In the current version, I ended up having to purge the COM's pops as they viewed my Imperium of Man as "Alien overlords". I obviously had human portraits and humans (though diffrent starting traits).
