Stellaris - Dev Diary #82: Synthetic Dawn Music

Hello everyone and welcome to another Stellaris development diary! This time I'm going to give the word to our very own composer, Andreas Waldetoft, who will be talking about new music in the Synthetic Dawn Story Pack.

I have once again been given some time to work on Stellaris, which always has been something very inspiring for me. There is so much freedom in writing the music for this that I never run out of ideas. For me, it is not the harmony or melody that is the hard part for Stellaris, it is finding the right sound and synth for the job.

For Synthetic Dawn I wanted to have the focus on simple synthetic sounds that would sit in the front seat throughout the songs. Some would call it a retro feeling with that 80-90’s game soundtrack kind of feeling, with my own style blended in. Musical lines that keeps changing more in tempo, dynamics and shapes rather than in musical harmony.

I did not however want to change the focus and soul of what has become the essence of Stellaris music so that it would sit wrong with all the other tunes that is in the game now. There is still similar musical language and ethereal sounds that we have heard before.

In total there are 3 new tracks, totaling ~18 minutes of music. Here is one of them, called 'Synthetic God' for your listening pleasure:

That's all for today! Next week we'll be going over a number of smaller changes coming in the 1.8 'Čapek' update, including the rework of Core Sector Governors and changes to democratic elections.

Probably because they want it to be addressed and it hasn't been despite being constantly requested. Hence the repetition and yes when customers consistently bring up a similar issues with the service provider then the highlights what should be a priority. That's how business works.
Please don't spam and post in the approproate thread.

It's a thread on the music of the development. Please post in a thread about the appropriate theme.

There are specific places for posting about what you think should be in the game, and this is not one of them.

On top of that, complaining consistently does not place something at the top of a priorities list.

When you are offering the same reason every time it's not helping anything and is in fact actually coming across as whining like a child when they aren't getting what they want.

If you can come up with new reasons or if you wait a reasonable amount of time without people bringing it up, then it's not whining. But complaining about something at every chance you get is childish.

It's a thread on the games development, that is an appropriate thread.
Which is focused on the MUSIC for the next DLC.
Also they are working on Ground Battle mechanics for a future patch. They are also looking in for ways to deal with the Doomstack problem.

From the looks of it, this might be your first Paradox Published game? If so, the issue WILL be fixed, it just takes time, and it will be in a free patch. They are not EA, who demand your wallet for one map...

can you please fix the 'utopia main title' not appearing in the playlist within the game. i cannot ever hear this track when im literally playing the game.

or just give the song an actual name and put it in the soundtrack player.

Thanks guys! :)

Any Chance that we get those awesome tracks on spotify to? I ofteb hear the stellaris ost there, would be great to have those SD ones to

I am pretty certain we will have all "the music so far" on Spotify and other services in the future. That is the plan anyway.
