Will there be a way to see country specific (Unique) advances at a glance in each focus before selecting it?
That is not how it works.
You will always get your uniques in the tree.

Can we steal advances from our Neighbors?
Assuming the neighbors research faster, it d be a shame if someone sneaks in and steals their ideas.![]()
Very nice system in my opinion.
Do you plan for every culture / religion / government type to have some "unique advances" by the time game releases, or will this kind of flavor for different countries be released gradually after that?
Or are the national advances completely separate from the focus specific advances?
How will advances be resolved after civil wars/revolts? Will both tags 'absorb' each others advances if some were to be unlocked during the war?
For example Scotland and Balliol, if Scotland unlocks advance A and Balliol unlocks advance B, will the 'winner' of the civil war have both A and B or just the one it unlocked?
Do I get anything if i integrate a vassal who has more advancements than me? simple example. if i integrate Hulk Building Utrecht, will they "forget" how to build Hulks because I own the port locations now?
makes sense from a gameplay perspective, but less from a believable world point of view. (would even be a playstyle, let your vassals do their stuff, swoop in, and take their stuff.)
Does it imply there are (Number of tags)*5 different technology trees, all of which were manually created?
Wow... That's an amount of work. And I don't know how to express my feelings about SUCH dedication, just wow
1 - they are added on top.1. You mentioned each age "contains about 100 advances". What happens with the unique ones, i.e. tag innovations, are they just added on top of the ones you would have available otherwise? Or do they replace innovations as to limit the advances to a specific number (100?).
2. Do you already have an idea or aim at how much in % of the innovations are we expected to catch in a normal playthrough (no gamey min-max things)?
So if say I don't chose the right focus to get gunpowder in the early game, I never get gunpowder? Come on, you gotta be pulling our legs with that nonsense logic.
What's the "from 20 to 500% Market"?
About the Written Alphabet advance... Wouldn't it be better if it was called something more generic, like Writing or Writing System? Many languages were and are written using other kinds of system, not just the well-known alphabet and logography (an example of the latter would be Chinese, which is more precisely a logosyllabary), but also syllabaries, abugidas, alphasyllabaries, abjads etc. So alphabet is but one of many possible ways to write a language.
What happens if you are way behind on research when some European country unlocks the next age? Do you keep chugging through your renaissance tech tree while Europe starts the Age of Exploration tree, or do you get directly kicked to the Exploration tree too and miss out on the other renaissance techs forever?
Will there be any tag- / culture- / region-specific "unique" ideas that you can get locked out of?
Can you research tech from previous ages, or is it a case of losing access the moment we tick into the new age?
So our soldiers will be fighting with swords and bows in 1800 if we never pick military focus?
How frequently can we switch focus?
Does building universities, schools or libraries make your country research faster?
doesn't that put generic tags at a disadvantage? Does at least every country draw from some set of advances ("European Advances" "German Advances" etc)
Off the bat, I really like this, my only concern is as an African state do you have to embrace writing?
Please consider replacing this with a research bonus to the chosen category and/or malus to the unchosen ones, and not an outright exclusion.
IMHO, it doesn't make much sense for a nation not to have any progress in two fields for a whole age.
Besides, I think that will make the meta aspect of the game too prevalent, and it doesn't sound very immersive or historically accurate.
