I've been playing Paradox games since Svea Rike and EU1 and have been lurking the forums for many years now. EU2 is my favourite paradox game and I was thrilled when I heard that Paradox would do an EU3. But the thrill turned into disappointment when the game was released (easy all EU3 players, not saying it is a bad game, it just didn't fit my personal taste). The worst thing for me wasn't really that Paradox had released a game that I didnt like but rather that I was worried that the wonderful EU2-community would disappear as it was now an "Old title".

Today, I'm very happy that the EU2-community is still alive and thriving. New mods are still being created, FTG will soon be released and new AAR:s are being written. As I have never really had the time to do my own mods Im very thankful to all those who spend a lot of time and make their mods available to freeriders like me. So I would just like to say thanks to Paradox and the EU2-community for providing me with countless hours of joy.

I could had written your same post, Teodor, perfectly right!

Only difference is that I believe EU3 is not so bad, even if I must confess that "old titles" EU2, Victoria and CK are much better ... EU2 above all.

I second your tribute to Paradox and the community. It's 8 years now that I play these wonderful games and come here!

Thirded. I love EU3, but still play EU2 as I consider them to be two completely separate games that just happen to be about the same time period. EU2 is admittedly simpler, but better looking and less cumbersome than EU3, as well as having a certain nostalgic appeal. I'm not going to stop playing it anytime soon, especially with FTG immanent.

I believe EU3 and EU2 can coexist perfectly.

I know it's hard to get used to less MP players due to other paradox titles and lack of marketing/information. However, it's logical the company wants to respond to new demands, like 3D graphics. It's part of its business.

But hey, don't be fatalistic! It's up to us to keep this community healthy. Tell your friends to join us if they're mad at strategic games. They could give it a try if you insist. Many people don't know this game exists at all.

regards

As I said, I do not think that EU3 is a bad game (the game was just not for me) and Im very happy that it is appreciated by so many players. I have heard many stories about players who discovered paradox through that game and that are now playing EU2, CK and other titles as well. This is good for paradox and it is good for me (paradox will be able to release more games) and I definitely believe that EU2 and EU3 can coexist since, as have been said by others, they are two different games. As for keeping the community alive, I try my best to get others interested in the game and I hope that more people will discover EU2 when FTG is released!

That's the spirit!

And sorry if I seemed critical up there, in fact I agree 110% with you

eu3 could be good with a different combat system, and a return to eu2 graphics. Thats all id ask.

Does FTG need its own forum?
